Lovely poem with the grandest theme...my first thought on seeing the picture was Sawyer prepares to rule the world. We know he rules Grandma's heart for sure...:)

Look at that little guy all grown into a big boy, no more baby. :)
Nice poem about that loving instinct...going with your feelings. It can apply to anyone.
Cool rhyme scheme. Does it have a name?

Yona, thank you so very much. It's good to hear from you. The rhyme scheme has no name that I know of other than following an aab ccb rhyming scheme :-) Brooke

Brooke, it's going to be so cool when Sawyer grows and
becomes able to fully appreciate this remarkable album of words and images you and Miranda are assembling.
The storyteller in me wants to explore how he will view these at, say, fifteen. Then again at thirty-five, and fifty-five. I'm sure you've already fantasized about this.
No, there are no calculations for such things. And there never will be. If there were, we'd have no need of poets and grandmas. What kind of world would that be?
Peace, Lee

Idioms? I'll have you know my IQ scores register a shade above stooge! So there!

Great poem and picture Brooke. Good word flow and rhyming as you tell of how words cannot describe the love and feeling one has for a loved one.

The rhyming tercet form is just perfect for expressing these sentiments about trying to calculate your love for someone special, like your wonderful grandson Sawyer. (He must be fascinated by all the buttons available for pushing in his daddy's office.) Love, Jeanie

Jeanie, thank you so very much :-) He loves buttons, especially elevator buttons. LOL Give the kid a room of gadgets with buttons on them and he could stay happy until bedtime :-) Brooke

Not only is Sawyer hanging out in Daddy's office, he's probably more adept on the computer then I will ever be. Kids have a knack for these high-tech gizmos.
for feelings never hesitate,
and there's no need to calculate
a love that cannot be denied.
When words or numbers fail, children's smiles will never fail.
Thank you Brooke, John

My daughter has never mentioned it. I'll have to ask her :-)

I like the forward rhythm of this piece. It pulled me along. Also, what a great rhyme: calculate/articulate. I also like the idea that love cannot be measured as worthwhile by numbers. And, cute picture as always! :) Alanna

Nice one, Brooke, with another new format by you. I've been reading a few similar to this, and I like the bridge of the last line in one stanza rhyming with the last line in the next after a couplet.

I really liked this message, Brooke. So true and a great tribute to Sawyer, as well as other loves in your life. In all our lives. There is no need to or way to calculate the value of that smile or the love you share. Good luck in this contest. A strong contender, for certain!
Thanks for sharing this with me.

Hi Brooke,
Your poem says it well, there is no way to calculate or quantify love, or even to place a value on it. It is simply priceless.
