For all its winsome singable meter and jingling word construction
you state a fundamental and pivotal truth
there's no need to calculate
a love that cannot be denied

Sometimes I think the deeper the love - the less we know how to explain it!

Nice one :-)

Sawyer seems stunned by all the calculating possibilities--I can see why the photograph inspired you to write this endearing poem. I enjoyed all your rhymes and the three-line stanza format. Best wishes in the Love Poem contest- Joan

A lovely poem expertly penned from a great poet. The connection we have with family babies is absolutely pure love. Beautifully written.

Good end rhyming. Good alliteration with no/numbers...the/thing/that's...for/feeling...no/need. Good rhythm and flow. Good complimentary photo followed by a clear message.

I love the rhyme of calculate and articulate and the way in which you used them. Filled with lots of meaning, this was wonderfully done. Good luck in the contest.

Saywer is definitely the executive type. Nice
poem Brooke. Four tercets in tetrameter. I
really liked the rhyme scheme.
Very well done. Good luck in the
Love Poem Poetry contest. Nancy

Nancy, thank you so much. I think at his age he is more interested in the buttons than the executive career path. LOL :-) Brooke

Once again, you manage to pen something that makes me smile. When I get all wrapped up in what is going on around me and money matters I can always read something like this. I get grounded and feel better. I got some bad news this morning and after reading this, I know what matters. Thanks for posting this at just the right time. Gretchen

So sweet. This child just has to pose all the time. But he's not camera-shy. Loved your love poem, Brooke. It is a lovely concept to write about calculating the worth of the love from a child. Well penned and best wishes for the contest. luv jada

Thank you, Jada. The older he gets, the less cooperative he is with the camera. He needs to be in the mood or caught off guard. Miranda posted a picture of him for St. Patrick's Day with him in his holiday tee shirt, and he looks positively pissed with her in that one. LOL Brooke

This is a very creative piece. I can see within it the great moral-money can't buy happiness. Love is within and is a feeling that's instinctual. Well done, Brooke.
