Alvin was one-of-a-kind and his sense of humor informed a lot of his work. Thank you for sharing a satiric senryu in his honor and with a nod to working women. Cheers- Joan

Exceptional write indeed, content on point, lol I had to laugh. Many men seem to think we still need to be grateful and obedient but they tend to get caught with their pants down every time. I guess one must do what they gotta do, the news reveals more men in that predicament, women not so much, she dropped her hemline and then move on and upwards, while he loses his high ranking job and his family. (Classic movie starring Barbara Stanwick really played they dropping hemline part well lol)

Your poem is in excellent senryu form if I compress corporate into two syllables
I'm sure Alvin would get a great laugh at your satiric look at human nature in this witty play on words
love the idea of "high" expectations made literal as this woman figures out the way to advance for a woman in the business world is to grab the attention of upper echelon men who pay more attention to her legs than her brains :-) Brooke

Very real. Each line setups the next. The last line shows the ends justify the means. What's more important than how the job was obtained, is the performance of the worker afterwards. Well done! Les

high expectations--
gazing at corporate's top floor
she raises hemline
This is very good. It follows the rules for senryu, with an excellent last line that is thoughtful and a little deep.
Excellent.

Amada, I do say so much with so few words is totally remarkable. You captured the reality of corporate upscaling and you pictured and portrayed the woman involved is being very lucid or transparent to the integrity of her lifestyle.
Thanks for sharing and posting and may you always find peace wherever you are.
Alex

Great satire. Though equality in the workplace is declared mission accomplished, as far as the glass ceiling goes, we are still not there. Can't say that I complain about raising hemlines.

Hello amada, Very good. There are many ways to climb a corporate ladder, and poem gives us one of the oldest examples ... perhaps blackmail is older - lol. Great 5-7-5 format and humor, especially:

she raises hemline
(Hopefully, she has good "yams")

Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

Delicious satire in this one, Amada. Sadly, despite all the push for gender equality these days, there is still some truth in what you say. Women have to be clever on many levels to succeed in this male-dominated environment.
