Are you telling of the feeling you may know what depression can make a person think is real. Oh, I mean what came first, feeling depression's symptoms or depression?

Hello. I liked this a lot. I would tend to make the sentences shroter, but that is only an opinion. I like the dying art of compassion. It is wisdom compassion, that I hope to understand before this life ends and the next starts with the karmic energy i have amassed.
Thanks for the thoughtful afternoon.

You lost me to the poem's over all meaning. I thought I knew what you were heading to. But then the way you ended this poem just left me scratching my head. This was a prose poem that has depth to its meaning. It was so deep for me it went right over my head... John

A very honest, poignant description of humanity and the emotions endured throughout a lifetime. The writer attempts through this poem to enlighten the reader about how far society has veered away from the ability to show compassion for one another. Our society is rather egocentric at times until something bad happens to us and then we expect all the come running to comfort us in our time of need. But that doesn't always come, which is why you need to keep true friends in your life and weed out those that are superficial. It is only when our lives end, that we finally see the errors of our ways, but abet too late to do anything about them. I love how this poem seems to take the span of a lifetime and compress it into a few stanzas drawing on the most integral lessons one should take from life. This arrangement of different aspects of life lessons is enhanced through addressing each one individually in separate stanzas. The writer's emotion and passion about this topic are clearly felt by the reader due to intense word choices chosen to create the greatest impact on the reader. This poem flows in a sequential manner dedicated to an entire lifetime in a few stanzas which transition seamlessly making this poem cohesive and easy to read. Well written and constructed!

I don't see this as poetry. It is an excellent piece discussing what we all must face, Life and death. The piece is well written it just doesn't strike me as poetry.

Hello deepwater,

Profound piece - a great philosophical essay with thoughts and directions for daily living.

The first line, in particular struck a deep note within me.

However, this reads more as a passage of prose, not poetry, hence the rating. I think a little tweaking of the individual lines could bring about a good free verse poem.

Hope you have a wonderful day. Welcome back to Fanstory. :)

So very true and we are blessed when and if we can find the kind of friends/family that will stand by you through the storms of life. God loves you and so do I.
