I'm not a poet so I never try to review on a poetic style as my ignorance would soon show. This is really a lovely poem and makes one think about how they judge a situation before they know the truth. God loves you and so do I.

Thank you for the review Janie. Yes, sometimes people are quick to judge but he did stick around out of hope. LOL It ended well. God bless you. Good day! Nancy

What an endearing legend and so beautifully written .
I was drawn to read and keep on reading to the end.
The poetry and image combine well.
Nicely written quatrains in perfect Abab rhyme.

Thank you very much Shirley. Of course the image was the inspiration for the poem. LOL Have a great week. Nancy

Hi, Nancy.
I'd have tied myself in a knot typing your explanatory rhyme scheme, but you've done it very well. :-)
WONDERFUL 'oldy-fashioned' romance tale in a poem, with every beat and rhyme written perfectly.
Such a lovely idea to have a 'kissing tree'.
Wonderful poem narrated by the lady.
Terrific whimsy rounding-off couplet.
I reckon this is one of your best, especially as it had me riveted throughout, and my mind usually wanders when reading poems of this length.
LOVED it!
Exceptional!
Cheers, Ted

Wow. I'm trying to grasp the fact that you made that up. It sounds like an old classic written by one of the great masters. I'd love to sneak this into a college class and introduce it as a work of one of the greats and listen to the class discuss it. Wouldn't that be fun? What an ego boost!! Hahaha. I promise they couldn't tell the difference either. mikey

You made me wish I had had a "kissing tree" sometime in my life Nancy but sadly, I don't. I enjoyed the internal rhyme, "if I am late, please wait" as they help any line roll effortlessly along but your poem didn't any help in this department. Another charming story within a poem very well done. xx Carol

A lovely romance told with style in high poetic language. How these young lovers do languish as the long to be once again together in each other's arms! The ah...! moment for me was
"I'll love you till the stars at night forget to cast their glow,
until the mockingbird forgets to sing".

I picked up on the alternating meter right away...lovvve it! Nancy, you are the Mistress of Meter. This is a terrific story with an awesome picture. You might add this to the notes: Dryad and the Tree Spirit, by Josephine Wall :)

I did that. Thank you! Then I googled Dryad and found more information. I thought it had to be a Classic piece of art!
It is a beauty! Thanks for the review, stars and suggestion! Hugs. Nancy

What a beautiful tribute to love, but more about its imperfections and imperfect people who are its purveyors! I'm so glad this one turned out, and the legend created! This was brilliantly written, with great descriptive language and tight rhyme and rhythm! Blessings, Roy.

Nancy, how smooth, effortless and tranquil this poem was written and even the rhythm flow smoothly throughout the poem. Labored, strained and forced were neither of these rhymes that you have written. Again your ingenuity in writing tempo, meter and beat for this type of poetry is just fantastically unruffled, undeviating and unvarying. Thank you so much for sharing and posting this work for everyone and may you always find peace where were you are.
