So, the spirit of the couple's love was so strong in that place, at precisely that moment, that it lingered there like wisps of mist beneath the tree for all eternity.

I'm a sucker for a good love poem, and this even brought in the dramatics...which is good. I enjoyed the twists and turns to your story, and I almost believed that the story plot would end badly. Your suspense was good. All of your meters were counted correctly, and your rhyme scheme was good. I'd say this is a smashing poem! Sweet Dreams. Tony
