Maddy, thank you so very much. There really is something magical about butterflies - Sawyer has loved them since long before he could talk. I so appreciate your generous and gracious review :-) Brooke

I love this poem so much! I love the moon & I love butterflies, so I really appreciate your use of the lyrical words "luna" and "mariposa". This is precious & the artwork is stunning. I love the way the "ABC" aspect is so natural, it's barely noticed. Most of all, I love the lesson in the final line. Thanks for sharing!!

Congrats on this high place finish, Brooke. This was such a lovely poem. Rose.

Original review:
It is such a wonderful thing to watch as children discover new words and thoughts on what they are seeing and enjoying. Butterfly is also Papillion. I remember how delighted I was when I discovered that word. This is a good entry into the ABC Poetry contest.
It's full with the mystery and joy of what we can see in the sky when the sun goes down.
Rose.

Yes, that is the beautiful French word for it :-) Thank you so very much, Rose :-) Brooke

You have captured the wonder of a child who looks into the sky and sees two seemingly-unrelated things and has that look in his eyes.
I like the alliteration of "Luna luminates" and using a butterfly's other name "Mariposa."
The AABBB rhyme scheme works very well in this poem.
Nicely done, Brooke.
Rod

This is a wonderful tribute to a child's imagination. I remember as a child I was fascinated by the man that I saw in the moon. Sometime later we saw the first man walk on the moon!

Good grief, girl! I had to look Mariposa up and it's humiliating that little Sawyer knows that word, lol. Please ask your daughter if she would mind tutoring me, ha ha ha. Hugs, Lou

Great ABC poem. I love the Luna as that is my true last name. I love Mariposa. Great use of language in your poem. I liked the mystery but not too much the "till" they lift their eyes to see. I would have kept it a mystery and change the term "till." But that is just me and I am new so its all up to you. I really enjoyed it though and thank you.

Knowing that these two words are Sawyer's favorites enriches what is already a delightful alphabet poem, Brooke. I really hope that you are assembling these for a published collection!

The sky sure holds many mysteries, and although the moon is so familiar, it a lot of ways still a mystery. Good luck in the contest.
