This poem is tinted with a little satire. Competing in a contest where you are allowed to select among the entries
(except your own) is quite amusing, and like any other contest you are prevented ethically. In such a case, you
just have to vote on the thing you think is the best. Or you may close your eyes and just point your pen to where the hand would drop. Cheers.

That's the strangest rule of all really. Voting against yourself. I usually vote for what I wouldn't be too heartbroken losing to!!

This is perfectly written and your points are made with great humor. They are also true. It is in your notes though that the most telling point is made. If everybody voted than there would not be odd results. NG

That is always what I have said. That is the answer in a nutshell. If everyone voted nothing would slip through the cracks. I can't complain. I think I've benefited a couple times myself. Wonderful insights and review. Thank you so much.

Excellent metaphor.
We are a Republic, yet we are ruled by a majority, and the plurality wins: 51%. Is there a margin of error?

Do we now all move to the winning side, or does the slight percentage win create a divide?

How can winners by 1% boost when fraud is considered to the winner's host; man is weak, dishonest, and goal oriented where the ends justify the means; we must do better, we must allow more political parties to the table; alliances this will enable, and more people will be represented.

Having the pie divided by an Ass and an Elephant has always made me wonder why; the zebra, the tiger, and the fly, were not represented?

Our days at the political coliseum are no different from Rome:
1. Self anointed royalty fight over taxes-money from the people- and controversy among the crowd, to continue the in office; some bread for the crowd, increase welfare, diminish passion; same-o, same-o.

We can do better; no life terms in offices; 6 year terms.

That's he problem here. You write an intelligent and factual poem and then say it is just for fun. Well I will say tis site is truly a good one when it comes to participation but the rules and the overseeing is poor. Rules are not adhered to and if you can afford to pay then you get what you want. You get a bad review shut your mouth even if it is downright unfair or plain foolish. whenever I get a four and check the reviewer it is always someone who has just joined and hasn't even submitted an entry. Guess what1 I ask them what they didn't like and we have a real meaningful discussion. Not take what comes and shut your mouth.Didn't mean to write all this stuff but after reading such a good poem about exactly what goes on you say you wrote in fun as if afraid of being ostracized

You are exactly right. I did say in fun for that very reason. And you are also correct that it wasn't really in fun. The shut your mouth rule is very difficult in the circumstances you describe though I understand it to a degree. But, it shouldn't preclude a reasonable response like you describe. I have also entered into some excellent dialogue with some folks that were simply new and needed some guidance. I gave out a couple fours when I first started unaware that they weren't "good" marks and a couple people were kind enough to point out the reality of the ratings to me. Thank you for the great insights and review.

Your picture choice places one in a Charles Dickens type of world. I enjoyed reading you today and I certainly wish you luck in the contest - Dinah

This is well done with good rhythm and humor. It is hard to vote with only three entries.I like the way it is presented and the word flow is good. I hope a '5' won't land me in hell!

A very well written, humorous poem. Your picture, and the first stanza really caught my attention. I see that you had fun with this one. This poem represented some of the thought that we do have. The last two stanzas are really good. Very nice job.

Glad you liked it. Yes, it was fun. I thought there would be more entries considering all the complaining. Oh, well!

I will never enter another. Rather read choice writes. Not wishing to offend the author. Going to hell is another choice. Best to you in the contest.

I say the same thing. Then A prompt catches my eye and I find myself in it! True, there aren't too many choice writes in these things and they may indeed be an entrance to hell! Hahaha.

LMAO, mystery writer, though I checked your portfolio and know who you are. :-)

SO MUCH honesty here as to how the selfish mind works.

'I'll vote for a loser' Haha!

'sly' is often part of human nature, and your words express that so well.

Thanks for the great laughs, and good luck in the contest.

Best wishes, Ted.
