Love your moment of introspection here . . . I think everyone wonders what causes the sparkles in a child's eyes. Your title is nicely crafted & memorable in its originality. I love the way you've conveyed that merriment is contagious, when around a child -- a beautiful sentiment. Thanks for sharing! *smile*

Love the rhythm of this one, Brooke. It just bounces off the tongue! Seven and three - my two lucky numbers! LOL!

I like the whimsy, the question in your words. And just look at that little monkey! What a cutie.

Here is a toy that probably has much meaning & enjoyable learning for Sawyer, and a good big one to play peek-a-boo. A Madness of Merriment is a good name to describe it & was a entertaining read, with a good picture to highlight & think Sawyer is hiding a peek-a-boo smile & a giggle.

Very interesting. That is one of the joys and bonuses of having children. That sense of seeing the world through new eyes. Where every little thing isa wonder. A wonder that we used to know.

There is nothing like seeing the world through the eyes of a child. Everything is new and everything is possible. Liked the wonder in each line. Nice image to go along with it. Great poem.

Brooke, I enjoyed this interesting rhyming scheme and meter. It asks a very intriguing question. Wouldn't we love to step in the thought process and see what the impressions are. :0 GracieAnn

I love, love, love, love this one Brooke. Sometimes the short is indeed sweet and perfectly childlike yet written by an adult appreciator of 'merriment madness, a paradoxical alliteration and opener. Peek-a-boo is such fun for both child and adult and how much children learn from this game. It is a great teacher that although someone has disappeared for a moment, they are really there or will be right back. I suffered from separation as a child and still do to a point so you describe a vital lesson in the happiest cutest of ways. xxx Carol

Those eyes of a child, so appealing to parents.

New eyes see only pure truth.

I often wonder as I too watch my grand children play.

A nice thought provoking poem.
