A lovely sonnet Brooke, and in this your emotions come through well about how much love and joy and simple pleasures your grandson has brought back into your life. A lovely read.

Wow, Brooke. You never disappoint. I always know when I open a work by you, I'll be delighted and this is no exception. Such a magical expression of maternal love. Beautifully done - as always. Touched my heart and made my day!

This poem sounds very much like a tribute to the welcomed birth of a certain young man. The arrival of a healthy and happy newborn can brighten up the darkeeeest mood and lighten up the heaveiest heart. Simply wonderful.

How that little man has grown, what a good-looking little boy he is and a giggler to boot I bet. I came back because I really missed reading all this good stuff in here and this was a pleasurable read for sure - Dinah

Brooke, it is difficult for me to imagine you mired in
despair. Such that your beloved fireflies and dandelions
couldn't reach down and pull you up. But we all go through
our colorless lowlands.
Im delighted one little guy was able to come to your rescue, and color in the hues again.
Both dark and light, heavy and flighty, you've created a sonnet that sounds like you.
Best of luck with the Committee.
Peace, Lee

Thank you so much, Lee - yes, colorless lowlands are not the best place to be, but go we do. :-) Brooke

Your poems always remind me of my grandchildren. I have five. The oldest, a granddaughter, once asked while we driving, "Which grandchild do you like the best?" I replied, "Which ever one I'm with". Thanks for sharing your delight.

Victor, my adult children and I still have a running joke about which one is my favorite :-) Of course, now they both know Sawyer has trumped them. LOL Brooke

My two sons, who are now 45 and 36, also would inquire. The analogy I gave, " I'm in a boat and both of you are in the water. I can only save one. I couldn't decide. I would just jump in with you both." Morbid, but pretty much the truth. Best wishes.

You are writing about yourself Brooke. You lighten our path through Sawyer and keep us wanting more of you in your simple and endearing prose.

Just beautiful. This applies to any and all new life for it all seems to have that affect. Of course, a grandson in a major way, but even the little kitten that wandered into our yard gives me understanding of this. This is so much fun to read out loud when it's perfect like this. I sound like Orson Welles! mikey

This one has it all Brooke. To start with, three great pictures of Sawyer and then your beautiful story of how he lights up your life. A grandchild will do that. Also, you even mention that the dandelions will be blooming soon. Won't that be a gorgeous sight after the winter that we've had. I wish you the best of luck in the contest. Take care. Bill
