Ahh yes, there is nothing like a child's love is there Brooke? This was a beautiful Sonnet about the loneliness absolutely disappearing at the first signs of his wonderful arrival. I must admit, until I became a Mum, I didn't know what love meant. I'd die for my kids...they are my world and I just DON'T know what I did before they arrived...Hang on, yes I did...I had a life of balance and peace! Haha...Seriously though, I can't wait to be a doting Granny and to be able to spoil them rotten, fill them full of sugar and then handball them back to Mummy. Excellent poem and full of emotion and love. I'm so glad he fills a huge gap in your heart.
Much love
Phillippa xo

Thank you so much, Phillippa. You are so right about being a grandma. When Miranda tells me tales of Sawyer's mischievousness, I just laugh at the cuteness of it when I know she is the one having to deal with any actual messes created, etc. :-) It's a real walk in the park compared to parenting, which I had my turn at. LOL :-) Brooke

Well now you get to see what a fine job you've done...and the legacy is being passed down.
Enjoy reaping that harvest of love.

He is just too cute. Isn't it amazing what a child's smile can do? You feel so down and one little smile just lights up your world. Really great as always. Rox

This was a very good poem. The message of happiness gone, then renewed again is clear in this poem. The poem reads well, and is a good message of hope. I enjoyed reading this poem. Nice job.

I see that your thoughts and joy ( the difference between joy and happiness is, joy lasts, happiness is temporal of course! )are very much involved with your grandson. This is a beautifully presented.sonnet, seasoned with attractive metaphor and simple language equally expressed! I particularly enjoyed the 2nd stanza, and the final 2 lines, both these were the main thrust of the Poem! Blessings, Roy.

Some times our greatest joys happens in our twilight years. This is very well written making for a smooth flow of words. Good luck in your contest.

A very moving piece, Brooke (got goosebumpy!). I know it's cliched (and God I hate those) but it really is truth that the light's found at the greatest point of darkness. And what better to light up one's life than a child?
I particularly like the imagery conjured up in the second stanza.
Cheers
Paula

This is an absolutely fantastic poem from the author in this piece of writing. I too thought that the chance of happiness had passed me by. I thought that I spurned too many chances but God was good and this time I will make sure it lasts. Well done.
