Exactly, such a well thought out poem. Twenty years without a baby in the family and then I have three. The change to my life is amazing, life is born a new. The first step and now the first words. Even the furniture has to change. This poem expresses exactly how I feel. Brilliant.

Brooke, what a delightful and inspiring sonnet you have penned. Yes, grandchildren can be such a delightful addition to our lives... and change life for the better. Your photos accompanying this delightful and well structured sonnet enhance the words... although they stand on their own. Good luck in the contest and warmest regards, Marijke :o)

This is a really nice sonnet with all the requisite ' sonnetesque ' attributes. The subject is a resurrection of purpose and testament to the awesome power of life to find a way to go on.

Isn't it so true how the smile on a child's face or their sweet innocent laughter can bring a smile to our face and turn our frowns away. How their happiness is transcended to us and allows us even for a moment to forget our problems...

Nicely captured here Brooke. John

Hello Brooke,
Nice piece of poetry in the form of an English Sonnet fulfilling the desired norms!
Simple and impressive wording.
Smooth flow with lovely rhyming scheme and lively imagery.
"....the dreams I once had dreamed had since retired."
The musical flow of this line + Naturally, the last couplet.
Excellent! Good Luck!

In other words...he has given you a big reason for living. loneliness will eat away your soul - a grandchild will mend all your hurts. I think you chose a good subject with a great personal message. Hugs, K.

This is a very beautiful sonnet, It speaks volumes about the love and bond between some grandparents and grandchildren. I say some because my mother never took any interest in her grandchildren, I know she had 9 children. So when I fell in love with my first grandchild I found a joy that has never left me, and each grandchild that has come along I feel the same. I often think how much my Mother missed out.

Sawyer I think will have a career in front of the camera.

Well done. Mary
