Hi Brooke :)
I really enjoyed your lovely rispetto. I particularly enjoyed the subtle sprinkle of alliteration throughout. That cupcake icing has some serious colouring in it!! Looks like Sawyer's enjoying it :) I like the matching red font you chose for your text too. Nicely done :) Kindest regards as always, Debra

Debra, thank you so much :-) Sawyer definitely enjoys his sweets. Now if his mother can only get him to like chicken. LOL Brooke

What inspiration can come from one little boy, and be shaped into a rispetto by his knowledgeable and talented grandmother! I've come across this Italian sounding form several times but cannot dredge from my head what is required. It appears to consist of two quatrains rhyming abab, where the second comments on the content of the first. Well contrived. Peter

Peter, thank you so very much,my friend. There are no rules I know of about content, just the two quatrains in iambic tetrameter with a shift in rhyme scheme from abab to ccdd. :-) Brooke

You remind us that the simplest things give us the most pleasure. The smile of a child is precious beyond words. You have a grandson who has cute down to an art - how could anyone NOT respond to a smile like that?
A delicious offering, Brooke. :)

Hi Brooke,
I will never tier of telling you just how natural and perfect you craft your poems.
Nearly everything you write has a moral in there somewhere, or at least a great piece of information that relates to well-being.
Perfect visual... nothing better than a frosted cupcake to put a smile on anyone's face.
With our thoughts we create,
half-moon smiles,
James xx

Brooke, what a cute picture. I'll bet you would have loved those sweet red kisses anytime. Great message about the sweet and innocent love that can be found in one small smiling face. Thanks for sharing this with us today. Jerri

This was a very well written poem. The poem reads, and flows well. Your message is clearly communicated in this poem. The last two lines closes this poem well. Nice job.

Brooke, I'm running out of words to express my delight
for these wonderful pieces of wisdom you diguise
as children's verse. I know I've mentioned Piet Hein before. But I keep getting a similar vibe.
Peace, Lee

the perfect picture of smiling Sawyer to accompany
your delightful poem on the value of a smiling face.
Especially that of a child. They bring such joy.
I love the comparisons you use to make your point.
Enjoyed the rhyme and excellent meter. Nancy

Amen to this little truth that is spoken here. Let's keep looking for all the smiles and shed a few of our own in the process. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Brooke,
I think the message in your poem is a great one, there is beauty in the things around us, but life's greatest gift is certainly the love of another, especially that of a child.
