I think Sawyer will be a romantic. The frosting on lips suggests that he will gets the best of kisses. Always a special one from mom and here in thought by grandma.

I can't wait for Sawyer to grow up and write. Of course I'll be long gone. LOL Maybe he'll be a little prodigy. I loved the poem. It has so much truth. Great job.

Thanks so much, amahra. He's working on the prodigy thing - he is 21 months old and has a vocabulary of over 600 words and counts to 14 :-) Brooke

Absolutely wonderful poem, Brooke. It is so true what you say in this writing. The smile of a child in particular is so rewarding...especially when we are feeling down. Blessings...Great job. Bob

You'll never find life's greatest gift
in star's last wink nor sun's first kiss,
in glaciers slow nor rivers swift,
nor canyons wide, no none of this.

I have missed seeing your fine tuned poetry, Brooke. You have a grip on life and love and the well written verse too!
Thanks for sharing with us.
Smiles~

What a sweet and touching poem. I loved all of the comparisons you wrote in the first stanza. Even such beauty can't compare to their smiles.
Beautiful piece

Shame standard members can't give a six star review. I hear tale there is a 7 star now even?

Simply perfection, Brooke. I can't imagine a better poet living. I'm a huge fan of Kipling and I believe your work rivals his.

Great message here. You find life's greatest gifts in a smiling face.

you are a rockstar poet and I've been reading your work off and on for 5 years now. Never been able to offer any suggestions. I just look on in quiet appreciation and know that you are able to do what few can.

Have a great day - Sam

Thank you so very much, Sam :-) The seventh star is just what is awarded by the committee for poems that win site contests. LOL Brooke

I know you aren't a fan of Ayn Rand but you could easily be a heroine in one of her books. I don't know anyone who does anything as well as you write poetry. Simply put, the best I've ever read.

Ah, Ms. Rand. LOL I do appreciate your lovely comment, Sam. I hope you and your son are doing well.

A beautiful little poem! It was like a really good movie that you don't want to end! Short, but sweet, with a great rhythm to it! Fine job!

A lovely rispetto. An inspirational write, and so very true. A smiling face can make the day. I especially like the careful wording in the first stanza. Have a great day, my friend~Debbie

A beautiful poem. It has that easy quality from being the master of your art, a natural poet. I am not going to comment technically as it is just perfect. I'm just enjoying it.

I like your sweet rispetto very much, Brooke. As always, your rhymes and meter are spot on, and the cute photo of Sawyer is perfect. Lovely work.
