A lovely poem, with a positive message, the grass is not always greener on the other side.
I would always choose a smile, it is worth a thousand frowns.
A great photo of Sawyer, boasting his innocent smile.
well done. Mary

You've created a near-tongue twister with this, Brooke, and it made for great fun reading. Love the fast pace and tightly packed syllables, not to mention the message, with which I agree entirely (whilst still enjoying a hefty slice of philosophising, lol).

Thanks so much, Mike. Just nearly choked reading your forum comment about fluffers. You're going to either confuse the heck out of the site's old ladies or give a heart attack to some of the others. LOL :-)

The perfection other than the writing is that when we get to the payoff lines we are doing exactly what the piece suggests, smiling. That makes the message so successful. If it were too humorous and we were laughing, it wouldn't work. You strike the perfect mood to match the picture. Wonderful piece. mikey

This is SO Sweet Brooke! YOU are absolutely right with your thoughts My Friend. The best there is in everything is usually right in front of our noses.
Just find the nearest smiling face,
for there lives life in all its grace
These two lines say it all!
NIcely Done My Friend! :o) Helvi

I love the flow of this, and the change in rhyme in each stanza. It's always nice to read your poetry -- they each tell a story about the beauty within life, and all the things near and dear to our hearts. A smile is indeed the greatest gift. Take care.

This is such a lovely, upbeat thought. People don't have to travel to see glaciers and canons to experience life's greatest gift. As you say, it's there on that smiling face. Happiness can be found nearby. This is beautifully written. Love the rhyme and the flow. A great thought that in that smile lies life with all its grace. judi

This is a great poem, Brooke. The greatest gift can sometimes be a simple smile, but an icing covering face of a child is a pretty good one too. :)

This photo is worth a thousand kisses. He is a precious little fellow indeed. No one can ever say he doesn't enjoy his goodies. Thanks for sharing Sawyer and his Valentine's Day treat and for writing the Rispetto; both were a treat!
