Sorry are really heating this so is he wearing it. I believe he's doing a little bit of both here. Chuckle! Chuckle! Your rhymes are neither forced, labored or strained in the rhythm was simple and flowed smoothly. Thank you for a very creative and well conceived poem. Thanks for sharing and posting it also. You have a good one in God bless.

Brooke: the smiling face says so much when the eyes smile with it. Sometimes people make their mouth smile but their eyes say something much different. I'm babbling on and on because I have run out of words to tell you how much I appreciate and enjoy your poetry and pictures of Sawyer. Linda

This poem...it is..it is..I have no words! You've described something which is true but what most of us almost always overlook! Yes, that's life's greatest gift!
God Bless!

I can always count on you for a smile :-)

A lovely message about how people, and their genuine smiles brighten our days the most? . . . or

A reminder that there is so much more to write poetry about, than Mother Nature's gifts?

LOL. . .or maybe I'm just reading too much into it ;-)

Thanks so much, Leineco. I've written my fair share of mother nature poems, but yes, there is more to appreciate about life :-) Brooke

This is such a cute poem, full of joy and happiness and so genuine.
Surely best things in life come from simple things such as a smile, a kiss or a gentle word.
The rhyming is really smooth and really enjoyed the content and word choice.
Excellent work.

What I love best about this is how the "nearest smiling face" is greatest even relative to all those other wonders and gifts of grace. "Sun's first kiss," "star's last wink," "heights where eagles fly," "glaciers slow," "rivers swift," and "canyons wide," all are magnificent gifts in there own right, which just points out how truly marvelous the "nearest smiling face" really is. No natural wonder outshines a human smile (especially one as endearing as red-splashed Sawyer's).

A smile, or in this case, a positive sentiment shared with others in a lovely rispetto, is a powerful elixir for those wearied by the world.

I love the journey even these few short lines and images takes me on. What an original thought "star's last wink" is. Thanks for sharing this one, Brooke. Happy holiday weekend. Stay safe and warm. Andy

Brooke, I cried reading this, but they were happy tears. It took me back to great childhood memories. Thanks for having written it. It's breathtaking for a change. I just love how perfect your rhyming feels. When, Brooke? When will the world know the mastery of your poetry? You're being selfish not allowing poetry lovers all over the world to be touched by your words. Sorry. I have to say. Maybe you should mute me. LOL Otherwise, I'll never stop harassing you to go take your spot in the bestseller list. You're incredible, my dear friend. It's a pleasure to have found you!

The greatest gift is the love in a child's eyes, but seeing the stars, the rivers, mountains, all of God's splendor then he really learns the to love mankind and will live in grace. Terrie....
