My kids are grown and I still have a couple of their little pictures on the refrigerator. I love the picture of Sawyer getting ready to create a masterpiece. You created a wonderful Whitney to go with it. I love the lines, "Talent is unlimited when instinct is the teacher." How true. We all have gifts. It is just a matter of recognizing them.
Enjoyed another one for Sawyer.
Hugs,
Maria

Very nicely done. And so very true. I just wish this poem could go longer, but I know that there are constraints on some types of poetry. Very nicely done!

How true and every parent should nourish and cherish children's talents. what a beautiful and thoughtful idea to dedicate it to parents!

The great message in this Whitney is indeed a true one. I think we've come a long way in letting talent flow and not stifling it with pre-conceived notions like was done in the past.

I still have my adult children's art in a box!

Lovely whitney, a form I've yet to try, and a great picture of Sawyer (of course).

Enjoyed it!

Hi :)

There you go again, showing everybody how it's done.

I'm fresh out of "Sixers" for you, but I've slipped in a virtual "Seven" because you've earned it with this short, universal piece.

I have no idea what form the poem is following, what matters is the universal message on the boy's face. The lad could be the next Picasso. Without knowing it, he already is.

Invaluable are those treasures collected of those wise enough to know and brace the blessed freedom of being a child--when we are true to ourselves--led by the instinct of soul.

How true, Brooke, your poem is! There are no limits to what one can do with talent if they let instinct guide them. You've included another darling picture of your little guy--so cute!

Yes, I do remember the days when my little would be "Georgie O'Keeffe" would bring home paintings of a peanut, cup of whatever else caught her fancy. She insisted on placing them in places of prominence: the front door, refrigerator, living room wall - LOL. Sawyer has so much talent from which to call upon, I'm wondering whether he'll pick his grandmother's love of writing. Then there's his mother's photography skills, and you're just two of many I'm sure. I love Sawyer's picture, as well as your beautiful Whitney.

Hi Brooke
I love it! We all have a gift. Some lucky people have many gifts. It's our job to discover where our gifts lie. When we're young, our parents can help with that. I know Sawyer's parents are feeding him with more than Junior dinners. Perhaps he'll be an artist, another Norman Rockwell. It's funny the way things go. My brother, Peter, is a wonderful artist. He painted the scene on my Yamaha guitar that I still use at church sometimes. I can't draw at all, and have no desire for it. I do enjoy writing, and playing music. Peter illustrated one of my poems, "Those Woodpeckers Make Holes in My Ark". (I posted it back in 2010 or 2011, I think.) But he did a great job. I wish you could see some of the pictures.
I love your line,
"Talent is
unlimited
when instinct is the teacher."
Wonderful poem, and another pleasing picture of a happy young man.
your fan,
Kimbob

Kimbob, thank you so very much :-) Yes, it is exciting to wonder what a small child will find is his talent. In the meantime it's fun to have him at that age when everything he does is wondrous. He hits a drum, it's amazing. He swipes some paint across a paper, its remarkable. He utters a five word sentence and he's a genius. LOL I so appreciate your generous sixth star and insightful comments. :-) Brooke

Lets hope the instinct comes in the form of writing also. He has a good teacher to help it in the right direction.
Sounds like a good proverb you have just written there, Brooke.

Good write.
