Yes, your author's notes sound familiar, and then we start all over again with the grand-childrens artwork.A nice whitney in time for valentines day.

As an ex teacher I applaud this message, and the "creativity" that exists in many forms in all children and adults. I enjoy the Whitney form, and the flow here is especially good. I hope many parent's read this little gem.

Brooke - a dismal, cold day here today. I'm a shut-in. Your poem brought a warming smile my way. No art-work on my fridge these days. I miss that. Lovely post, well written and beautifully presented. Bill

Bill, how lovely to see you. :-) I haven't been out of my apartment since after church on Feb 2, and we just got another foot of snow with a couple more inches coming tonight, so I'm shut in too. Take care, my friend :-) Brooke

Hi Brooke,
couldn't agree more. Not only through the veins, but also the mind's eye. Love the sentiment of this wonderfully crafted Whitney.
With our thoughts we create,
masterpieces,

This is another excellent Whitney, Brooke. I've discovered these are not all that easy to write smoothly, as you always do. Also, the succinct bit of philosophy is so true. Instinct will not often lead an artist astray. (Love the picture of Sawyer doing his Valentine art. I have my grandkids' art throughout the years displayed on a big canvas pegboard in a spare bedroom, now in double and triple layers.) Love, Jeanie

There is something about the line: "Artistry flows through the veins," that just gets me. I noticed your stats. Congrats for your rankings. Also, this poem is beautiful. It's crazy how micro-poetry can sometimes hold soo much more than longer pieces. Good Job!

Than you so much for your most thoughtful comments and generous sixth star. In the courses I teach here at Fan Story I always stress the importance of economy of words in poetry. I find that in many of the longer pieces two thirds of the words are unnecessary :-) Brooke

That is completely true. I've learned that recently! Thank you for the read, and also, the tip!

That's true. You should just let inspiration take over. I think when we're moved by a strong desire, everything flows easily.

Creativity is surely an extension if the urge to play. Children might be closer to it but we all have our imaginations begging to be released. Is this true of all living creatures? Maybe creativity is simply a bid to recapture our bond with Mother Nature. Forgive me for getting carried away. Eliot talks of the need to make something rich and rare out of the pain of our experience. He was such an intellectual. -Ekim777

How true all of your words are, both in your poetry and in your notes. Lovely picture of Sawyer who is getting bigger by the day. Nice Valentine's art. Be proud!

I am so far behind! I kept seeing your name and wanting to sneak ahead because I know it is something good!! But, I am being good and going in order. Finally, I am here to enjoy this perfect little piece that we can all relate to. My mom had my 3rd grad silhouette on her bedroom wall for decades. I still have it, cut out by my very own eight year old talented hands. This piece should be right on the fridge next to each piece in a place of equal honor. Well done, mikey
