Indeed we must rely on nothing but pure instinct for the artistic talents God gave us. It can't be forced. It CAN be taught. But when it comes naturally, what a world of ability is displayed. Both my little ones have shown creativeness with drawing but it's Tahzy that's truly excelling. Jack is the brainiac. LOL
Loved this delightful write Brooke and I see you haven't tired of writing about the little treasure just yet. Just wait till he's scribbled all over the walls, the carpet and the kitchen drawers. Just wait until he's permanent textered in your Encylopedia Brittanicas...LOL
You may not be so encouraging of his raw talent! LMAO
Cute and cuddly but NOT for long, I assure you...they turn into obsessive doodlers and NOT just on the phone pad! haha
Well done
Cheers P

Yes, Brooke. I imagine most parents do have those precious early creative expressions saved somewhere.
Your lovely Whitney with perfect rhyme and even tempo brightens the day.

Ellen, thanks so much. I'm still in withdrawal from the Pruitts.

Thank you for remembering them. I'm rewriting and breaking the book up into two parts. The ending is different. I may post the alternate when it's done.
Otherwise, I'm just reading a few special folks and enjoying the lack of pressure. (Big smile.)

Gosh you hit the nail on the head again. So simple, so easy, so direct and so straight to the point. You nailed this. We dont always have to say a lot to say something and you capture that here !

A serious picture!
Artistry << It's one of those beautiful words, especially when featured by itself.
flows through the veins
of every
living creature. << Speaking of flow, this sentence is silver-tongued!
Talent is
unlimited
when instinct is the teacher. << So true. Such a simple, profound, and elegant pronouncement.
Formally sound; spiritually astute.
Thanks for my kinds of Good News.

Your Whitney is a great poem with inspiring words and wisdom. Anyone who excels in sports or the arts usually always has someone who is encouraging and inspiring them not to give up.
Smiles,
Karyn : )

Nice Whitney, Brooke. Adorable photo, as usual - and the poem and picture suit each other to a tee. Nice consonance of V and assonance of I and alliteration and consonance of T.
Warmly, rd

Dear Brooke,
The daub on the paper may be worth keeping, but, to me, it is the memory of the amount of paint on the artist's body, hands and face, that lives in memory. Regrettably, though, it brings to mind the time when my two boys, then aged 4 and 2, painted the front of my car with quick drying lacquer. They were also covered in it.

Thanks so much, Reg. Miranda was remarking to me that he didn't get a drop of paint on his entire outfit but managed to coat his shoes. LOL Your car? Oh now! Brooke

A lovely whitney, about how art is instinctively in us all from birth. I agree, I began painting when I was 50 years of age. If I had encouragement when I was younger, I know I would have been good. I have no regrets, I am happy to enjoy it now in my senior years.
Sawyer look so happy as all children do when messing about with paints.
Well done. mary

Mary, thank you so much :-) Yes, so many children could have done so much more with their innate talents if only encouraged and offered the opportunity. There is a wonderful video that makes the rounds of Facebook about a village in Paraguay that is right next to a city dump. The children of the village gather materials from the dump to build orchestra instruments under the direction of their dedicated music teacher. They form an orchestra with these makeshift instruments and sound incredible. They have toured the world. It boggles the mind. And all because one man saw them as more than poor little guttersnipes.

Yes Brooke, I saw this it is amazing. I can imagine Sawyer is not lacking in any encouragement Mary

Dear Brooke, You truly speak for parents everywhere. I still have Wesley's artwork from when he was two, twenty-six years ago. Now it doesn't seem so silly to him. Wonderful poem. You always speak from the heart. Great job, Shirley
