I would tell Miranda to keep all his paintings, I have seen many that adult people have painted that are no where near as good as some of the infant school children...and they sell for thousands! I really liked this poem, and your last lines are so true...
Talent is unlimited, when instinct is the teacher...:) Sandra. xx

I have finger paintings my granddaughters made when they were each three. They are my most treasured possessions. Love this poem and the priceless pic of Sawyer. Thanks for the heart warming.

I wrote a small summary much the same as you write here.
It will be posted tomorrow.
And you pose what is simple..powerful...true to all.
I reflect more and more on these sorts of things lately.
And you inspired it just a little more.
Thank you!

I have most every piece of art work that my kids have ever done. When they hit a certain age, I go through and pull out the ones that mean the most then let the others go. Each has a bankers box that is full of keepsakes. Everything from a handprint when they were one to an award when they were older. Loved the inspiration that is behind this. Nice poem.

Not only do I have my children's artwork, but my mother in law was kind enough to provide me with my husbands artwork as well. :) The poem itself is sweet and to the point and very true. Not only in words, but your poetry is true to yourself too. Your talent is beyond unlimited. I've heard of Whitney poems before. You did an excellent job keeping to the 7 lines with the 3-4-3-4-3-4-7. You always seem to know exactly just what type of poetry your words need and you always express them beautifully. Thank you as always for sharing with us!

I still have it forty-five year later! My son actually has a wonderful picture of the super heroes he loved and drew in 1979. I had it professionally mated and framed. It hangs in his law office. An enjoyable whitney. Smiles, robin :)

So true! It's an appealing poem. If only we could learn to trust our inborn talent more than we do. And another great pic of the little tyke!

Oh this was so cleverly written. I've never heard such a statement made in or out of poetry. Loved the Whitney format. Great writing.

Hi Brooke :) I love the whitney form and this one is just perfect. I love the rhyme scheme and your message is super. Great photo of Sawyer being artistic with his pots of pink, purple and red - I wonder who will be the lucky recipient of his valentines card! Thank you for sharing this one - a lovely read :) Kindest regards as always, Debra

Ah, so that's why my pet snail writes poetry in his slimy trails, Brooke. :-)
Excellent whitney with a powerful message of instinct.
Best wishes, Ted
