What a cute artist! I totally agree with the heart of your Whitney. The first, uninstructed strokes are like messages from a world we have forgotten. I can't help wondering how the uncontaminated soul sees the world - before the world dulls their perception with boundaries and "the right way" to do things. They come so recently from the world of eternity, they still remember its outlines, I'm sure. We could probably learn some crucial things if we learned to see with their eyes, listen to their wisdom and reminded ourselves of all we have forgotten. Fascinating little people. Great little Whitney, Brooke. I really like that form.

I'm just going through my drawers and closets now, sorting out and tossing things that have out-worn their welcome. Not a single piece of art made it to the junk pile. I guess it will be the children's lot to clean out when I'm gone - unless they plan to buy a ship's container to bury me in, so that I can take it with me.
A lovely whitney, Brooke.
So fitting for the season.
Rose.

How beautiful. I have four such artworks on my refrigerator now, they were left Sunday after the children ate lunch they decided it was time for some new pictures. :}
Thanks for sharing. Children love to create and expand their artistic talents especially when the ones they love displays them.
Thanks for sharing.

This pefect Whitney poem captures the essence of every talented and budding young artist.
I am a proud mum of six and nanna of three so I have quite a collection of talent hidden away in memory boxes.
Little children possess such a natural instinct and it is amazing just what they can create.
Thanks for sharing.

Hello adewpearl, Brooke,
A whimsical Witney. I especially liked:
Talent is
unlimited
when instinct is the teacher
(Indeed how true. And now sharing my after-thought ... and an unbiased heart can lead the way.)
Brooke, I could feel the freedom from within, the freedom of a child. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

I love the idea that we all have artistry inside of us. Some, like you, are better than opthers when it comes to articulating it, but I do believe we all have it. A nice idea very succinctly articulated - thanks

Dear Brooke: Another masterful work of joy and tenderness in a new poetic form (for me that is) and so I really appreciate the expanding of my poetic education. Vance
PS: promise to send me a copy of the book!!!

Love this whitney poem, Brooke :). Excellent syllables as per the form requirements. You captured the photo well. I love your enjambment to tell the story without jolts between lines. Very smooth.

Such a precious little artist for sure and yes those first pieces of art are saved for decades for sure. Adorable poem to go with the artist's task. God loves you and I do too.

This short little lesson on "artistry" and how it's found in every creature is very well presented for a young reader.
Good use of the rhymes "creature" and "teacher" to emphasize your theme.
