Oh Brooke, I like this Whitney. It does hit home. I know those refrigerator drawings. I like the ones that I have no clue what it is, lol. Then there's the child who draws better than you! I loved the creature and teacher rhyme. Namaste, Debbie

Thanks so much, Debbie - I have a bunch of drawings Miranda made when very little. I would ask her to explain what was in the picture and then I wrote down what she said. It is so adorable to look at them now with her interpretations of her own art :-) Brooke

Brooke, I love this Whitney. I always had something to put up on the fridge. And I had a box that had the best things in it. Good poem. Thanks for sharing. Miss Sally

A delightful whitney Brooke. I did save boxes of artwork from my children after they hung on the refrigerator until the next piece was done. Because of several moves, most of it is gone but I still have Christmas ornaments they made. A sweet reminder that we all have artistry in our own way.
Blessings

Janet, thank you so much. A couple years ago I finally culled the artwork and got it down to one big Rubbermaid container filled with art. I hate to tell you how much there was before that. LOL Brooke

Great! I liked this and the Whitney style fits perfectly. I have some "artwork" on my fridge to this day. Must be 30 or 40 years old!Again, this was delightful to read. Great job!

RYME4U, in my apartment I still have cheaply-framed pictures Miranda and Eric drew over twenty years ago hanging on my living room walls - if I look up from my computer I look directly at a cat that won Miranda a prize in a contest sponsored by the local vet. LOL :-) Thanks so much. Brooke

It is nice to think back and remember when they were young. Now I even have "great-grandchildren's" art on my fridge.

Oh, that little Sawyer just gets cuter every day, Brooke. I love your Whitney and it is a true comment, true art comes from instinct. You just know what all the parents and grandparents are doing with their loved one's art. Giddy

Giddy, thanks so much. It saddens me that all the kids Sawyer's age produce art that is appreciated, even loved, but by the time they're ten, school has taught everyone which kids are "actually" talented and which ones ought to be trying soccer instead. Brooke

Love the author notes on this. What a inspirational poem that should be posted in classrooms. Great use of assonance with living, unlimited, and when.

Spitfire, thank you - it ought to be posted for teachers to read. Too many teachers start sorting out the talented kids from the not talented ones as early as elementary school. Brooke

Brooke I used to be a framer at Hobby Lobby . My favorite customer framed her children's artwork. That was the only art in her home but framed so well it looked fabulous. What a joy for her kids to have their work valued
I loved your Whitney and I believe it to be true
God bless

Thank you so much, kiwijenny. I have about a dozen drawings by Miranda and her brother Eric hanging on my walls - all framed in those cheapie dollar store-kind of frames. LOL Brooke

Great job, Brooke, with this Whitney format. Looks like Sawyer is ready to paint a Picasso. A treasure to keep on the refrigerator and in a box for decades later. 8-)
