'Artistry.'
Artistry
flows through the veins of every living creature.
Talent is unlimited when instinct is the teacher.
A nice little poem with an apt description. Well done, Brooke.

Hi Brooke, A lovely Whitney - so well written and very profound. Good accompanying picture - where are Sawyers overalls? Yes, children's and grandchildren's 'work's of art' all stacked away. Enjoyed the read. Very well written within the confines of the Whitney structure. Regards Dorothy

Brooke, very nice whitney. It is amazing how we keep
those little drawings or whatever our children or
grandchildren do and proudly display them.

We've displayed our children's creativity on our refrigerator over many years. Now we've graduated into displaying Aiden's artistry. Like you with Sawyer, we just want them to be creative and open minded.
Nicely worded Brooke. John

I marvel at your ability to write poetry that is simple and profound simultaneously. This is a beautiful Whitney that compliments the picture perfectly, and strongly resonates with anyone who considers herself an artist. I love the meter and the excellent rhyme, but I really love what this poem says. And of course, Sawyer is an excellent inspiration, as always.

It's interesting, actually, the concept of artistry.
When I look it up in the Thesaurus I find ability, finesse, flair, creativity, taste, proficiency, talent, style, genius, virtuosity etc etc etc. Yet, we all know what it means without ever looking it up!
And yet, when we do, we don't really get any kind of definitive definition!
Why? Because it is infinite!! It lives in our souls and veins. . .waiting for us to tap it.
And teach us what it is.
LOL. . .little poem - HUGE concept!

Thank you so much, Leineco. Sadly, the definition gets narrowed as kids grow older. We love every toddler's art, but by the time they're ten the teachers have identified which of their students are artists as opposed to the vast majority who aren't. Brooke :-)

Hello Brooke,
Thought provoking lovely piece of poetry in the form of 'Whitney'!
It beautifully depicts its theme.
Wording is simple and impressive.
Spontaneous and enchanting flow with its own rhythm and lively imagery.
The most striking lines are:
"Talent is
unlimited
when instinct is the teacher."
Superb!

A lovely poem, full of truth. I think natural artistry is stifled so often when children are moulded into a way of painting or drawing by adults. Love the pic. Bet he had a lot of fun!

Yes, there is a certain amount of artistry in all living creatures. The honeybee and the comb, the bird's and their nest.. and a child with a marker or paintbrush. Wonderfully written, I like the dedication to parents given in your author notes. Well done, Carolyn
