Wow Steve you've gone all serious on me but this is thoroughly beautiful. Such a volatile world we live in and such a big part of it's daily activity is reflected through the pull of the moon. You've travelled every gamut of emotion that the sea could throw at a keen sailor and come full circle back to that soft lull of the waves lapping at the shore which on a moonlit night is absolutely magnificent...especially when the moonlight catches every ripple. Truly splendid, my friend. So well done
I enjoyed the first six lines of the third and fourth stanzas. You give great pentameter. Well done.
Cheers P

    Versatility you know...

besides, if someone dangles $100 in front of me, I'm going to give my best shot at grabbing it.

Are you saying you only liked the 'head' of those stanzas?

No, it's just that I particularly enjoyed the first half more than the second.
With that said MANY MANY great lines mate.

My, Steve, you are an ambitious poet--when limericks are no longer in season. And ode in four acts. Seasonal perhaps?
Cyclical, at least. I'm not well-versed in poetry, but I can recognize strong rhymes, consistent meter, and effective enjambment.

Best of luck with the committee.

Peace, Lee

    Thanks, Lee.

The committee may be perverse, but I always try to get into their heads and imagine what they would like to see - which means they'll give top billing to some modernistic free verse piece!

    Thanks for the sixer.

I know what you mean about trying to anticipate the Committee. But it's futile.
I'm even thinking of skipping the story/poem competition this time around. I never come close. L

The sea in all its fury is a destructive force when angered, but can calm, as well. Your imagery and wording were excellent. Your rhymes worked well and conveyed your message effectively. Enjoyable read. Good luck. Faye
