This is very beautiful.. Especially the last stanza..The Substitutions, are a good thing, though (maybe, am reading through the lines, here) think it will be so nice when Sawyer is there by you....C.

This is lovely. I really like the flow of this one with the Long/Short. Sincere, endearing and filled with love.

And, the photo simply confirms the love you just wrote about.

Very nice.

It is really lovely - you can feel the emotion in your words....you are blessed! I have no grandkids and find myself a bit jealous on occasion - however, God directs our path as He requires.

The sight of your grandson playing in his sandbox has made you long to be with him .Who would blame you? it is so uplifting to b share the innocent world of a child's mind. And as always you have included a deep message here. disappointments would be there but we can always fight them off. lovely.

This was really nice, Brooke. I really liked the way the piece flowed and the rythm as perfect as well. Nice job of writing.

Brooke,

This is a delightful, endearing write. Upbeat throughout, looking at the positive side of things, finding an antidote ... and then ... the slam bang finish that says "but nothing is a substitute when I'm apart from you". So very touching!

Terrific imagery created throughout your poem, and very good rhyming and flow as well. Great pic of Sawyer too!

Connie :)

Brooke, this has 10 plus 'awwww' factor. I love it. It would be perfect to use as an expression of love in so many scenarios. A grandparent, separated by miles, off course. Or a parent away in the forces writing to their child... I could go on.

You have a lovely talent. This was a really sweet read.

You are a very observant and thoughtful poet. The imagery in your poem is very appealing and heartwarming. A very positive thinker you must be to have so many alternatives when things disappoint, or plans don't go as anticipated. Your rhyme scheme is strong, and flows well. I just really enjoyed revelling in the pictures you create. The whole work has a feeling of contentment and acceptance. Your last line is very romantic, and is in sharp contrast to the rest of your poem. It would make any husband/ boyfriend feel really valued. Well done.

Now is this way you see your grandson when you saw the picture of Sawyer playing in the Sand box

I like the next best thing can do when you don't see what or want to do.

Very good enlighten thoughts.

I like the message here, Brooke, that sometimes when things aren't exactly how we want them to be, we then make the best of what we have around us. Maybe I'm reading too much into this delightfully rhyming poem of yours, but that's what I thought when I read it. I love all the examples you use here.
My best to you.
