Such a beautifully written poem Brooke, with such great rhythm and tempo and meter that it flows so well that it makes it very easy for me to read and understand your poem correctly and easily. Your rhyming also was done very well and neither of your rhymes were forced, labored or strained.
Such a poem like this surely could be written for a Valentine's Day card or any card for that matter.
Thank you so much for sharing this with others including myself. May you have a good one and God bless.

Hi Brooke,
Awwwwwwww.... See, you need to move close to your daughter so you can be around Sawyer more.
Again, perfect iambic meter. Your rhyme scheme changed from abab to abcb which threw me off a little, but still a beautiful poem.
It's great you now have a lovely grandson to focus your attention on. As always, thanks for sharing!

This is a nice quatrain with ABAB rhyme scheme. I like the first line "When ocean views are miles away, a sandbox has to do" - I used to get the plastic pool and lawn chair and pretend. 8-)
Lots of substitutes but none can suffice when you are apart from someone you love.

So continues the always delightful words of Brooke, complete with an adorable picture of Sawyer. Both were enjoyed and put a simile on my face this evening. Linda

OH Brooke, so sad...I know how it feels...I miss mine up north...The sand box reminds me of when my granddaughter was little...maybe three or four...it was her birthday...her aunt bought some blue sand to put in it...what a mess that was...but funny...I love your poem...and the picture is precious...Luff Linda xxoo

Thank you so much, Linda. On Friday he asked for Grandma/phone so many times that Miranda indulged the two of us in three phone calls. :-) Brooke

I love the action shot with the sand falling, Brooke. Once again these are delightful quatrains, perfect to recite to a child. Sawyer will never grow up camera shy! Giddy

This is another fine example of your wonderful writing prowess. I am in constant awe of your artistry. I really love the way you construct a poem and display it in such fine fashion. You keep teaching and I hope that I can learn enough to keep up.
