I too like his expression in this photo, don't think I ever saw children do this. You are right to ask him to brighten the world up with a whole smile.

Ine, thank you so much. His mother used to have the same half smile, which always melted my heart. :-) Brooke

That teasing, little elf of a face! I can't look at it without chuckling. I think he's going to have a great sense of humor. LOL!
Loved your poem about just using "half a smile". Sawyer looks like he has a joke he's not ready to share yet. LOL!

Too sweet and very adorable. Each time I see a picture of him - he is smiling.

A big, open - look at me - smile with a hint of mischief.

Liked it very much.

Sawyer is one of the happiest children on earth. Miranda always manages to
capture his special moments or looks and grandma captures the thrill of the moment in verse. Lovely, enjoyable and his half smiles is contagious. Spread the smiles. Smiles,
Robin :) :) :) :) :)

Robin, thank you so very much :-) He has his first cold right now, but even with snot gushing out of his nose he giggles wildly as he spoon feeds his cat. LOL

That's a funny picture, poor baby. Always makes me feel I just want to blow my nose for them! :)

My newest granddaughter has a million faces and I love every one of them. But she does have some that are my favorites. I love when she looks at something, purses her lips and says, "ooooooo." Thanks for sharing this whimsical piece, Brooke.

This is definitely the best poem about a smile I've ever read. You really have a way with words, Brooke, and I don't see anyone knocking you off of number one poet anytime soon while you continue to produce gems like these. Excellent work, thanks for sharing.

Ugh, but that half a smile is so cute - you could just eat him up. I guess we all need to lighten up and give a broad smile :) Life if good especially if you get to enjoy such sensational photos of the next generation. Too precious. Oh, your poem! Very well said. luv jada

Jada, thank you :-) Yes, I adore his half a smile. I just finished watching a couple 30 second videos of him from yesterday. In the one he is twirling on his mom's bed and when he falls, he declares "oh my goodness." LOL In the other he spots a shelf of vacuum cleaners at Target and and says "turn vacuum on." :-) It is just ridiculous that my heart wells up because of how he reacts to seeing a vacuum cleaner. LOL :-) Brooke

You are indeed privileged to have such a little treasure to observe. Grannies have more fun with their grand children. They notice all the little things the mums are too busy to notice. He is a fine little fella. Love him lots for he will grow so big before long. :) luv jada

Hi Brooke

What a wonderful poem. I can't believe how quickly that little tot is growing. Certainly a quirky, so cute half smile, or cheeky grin. Sawyer looks from his photos as though he has a delightful sunny nature.

He reminds me of my Godson (Michael John) at the same age. He had that same little endearing grin. He still has it but is thirty and as he has lived in England for some years, I have only seen his younger brother who is quite different in looks. Both lovely boys though.

A charming set of quatrains with a melodious musical sound when read aloud. The theme, the pace of your rhythm and the fun word usage would make any reader smile. That glorious photo simply embellishes your work. I almost feel a semi-grandma to some of the delightful grandchildren shared on FS.

By the time I become a Grandma (God willing), I might not have the energy to keep up. lol I have enjoyed the allit., assonance and consonance, rhythm and rhyme .... great thought in your concluding lines. I haae a huge smile on my face....... wonderful of you to share. Hugs - Lovi xoxoxo

Lovinia, thanks so much. :-) Miranda posted a couple short videos of him last night. In one he is standing on her bed twirling around, and when he falls he declared, Oh my goodness. LOL In the other they're in Target and when he spots a shelf of vacuum cleaners he points and says - Turn vacuum on. :-) He definitely has the personality to go with the impish smile :-) I truly appreciate your generous sixth star and lovely comments. Hi Brooke

Well it is difficult sometimes to review your work. Each poem is exceptional combined with wisdom, insight, kindness and a truly genuine spirit and love of beauty ... I think nearly all of them deserve a six. I do have to make sure some other poets have a chance. LOL

I have a limited number of early childhood videos ... middle son took off with them ... if he has lost them I will be heartbroken. Back in the olden golden ays when film wasn't stored on computers ... in fact we didn't have a computer...... OMG I've lived the dinosaur age. LOL I think the photo/video records for memories is so wonderful and I treasure every image... as you do.

With such love and devotion in his life, there must also be balance ... he seems to be developing a lovely character and doesn't appear to be precocious ... what a fine job his parents are doing ... and of course the best grandma in the world. Will you adopt me?? :))))

I hope his whole life is filled with the best of what our world offers. Have a great week. Hugs - Lovi xooox
