God, Brooke, what's this?! It's breathtaking. I just loved it. The third stanza is probably one of the best you have ever written. Please, get a move on. Go add this poem to that incredible book you'll publish sooner than you think. Bravo.

What a perfect valentine entry and a winner. Sawyer is so happy! This is yet another perfect work and true gem to share with the little guy from now on. I detect a strong bond. LOL
I have a grandson too. I get it. Great work.

Thank you so much, Kingsrook. The poor kid caught a bug from his mother and has been projectile vomiting all day. He's never been sick before, so no happy today. Brooke :-)

I hope for a speedy recovery for all of you! That is no fun. Take care.

Beautiful! How true it is. A song is not as beautiful without any harmony and love is meaningless when it's not shared. Each part in the song brings out the beauty in the other parts and people bring out the beauty in others. Wonderful poem and great picture! It really says it all!

Your opening stanza was such a delight - for words of love when sung alone create a sound so hollow - how beautiful. A cute entry for the contest and I wish you well in the judging. Well done ebony and ivory.

Hope You're in a different competition to mine.
As always a superbly rhythmical poem. I hope you place second in the contest behind my favourite Aussie poet, me.
Every time I read your work, I learn.
Another great piece

What if the only song we know is chopsticks or that pirate shanty played by rolling your fist on some of the black keys? All great loves need a melody and harmony.

What a great Valentines poem stemming from the picture of Sawyer and Nora. Music is the melody of love and as the duet takes two, so does love.
My songs are all composed for two,
duets designed for voices
that harmonize to celebrate
a love the world rejoices.
Nicely done and good luck in the contest. John

You are the queen of this, Brooke. The picture captivated me and the word of the poem lifted my heart. The flow, rhythm and rhyme as as perfect as ever.

Lovely poem for a Valentine - especially one as charming as Sawyer. :)
Strong rhyme and meter throughout.
i like the metaphor of song for love. duets are much more fun!

This is a poem just stuffed full of the things that love is (or at least should be) about. Simple, honest, and kind.
As Paul McCartney said,
You'd think that people would have had enough of silly love songs.
But I look around me and I see it isn't so.
Some people wanna fill the world with silly love songs.
And what's wrong with that?
Id like to know
I always enjoy your poems about the discoveries of life and love as seen through the eyes of Sawyer.
Rose.
