I'm sure there are a lot of people across the country wishing along with the Fox and Hare for some of the bitter winds to cease. This is incredibly well done, with perfect meter and rhymes and so many in the 'ill family. That was impressive! (I was also impressed that Sawyer is already talking, but considering who his grandmother is, I shouldn't be surprised he has a way with words. Hopefully, he will join FanStory soon and we can enjoy his poetry as well.) I do get sidetracked, but Sawyer is already world famous and such a captivating subject to observe. I'm so glad you've shared him with us as he's growing up. Your poetry is enriched by his adorable photos.

Thanks so much, Adonna :-) At twenty months he should know a dozen or so words according to the pediatricians. He has a vocabulary of 400 or so words, including phrases. His father is a dawdler. When they are going out and Dada is taking too long he will say - Come on, hurry up. LOL The other day when the dog next door was barking he pointed to their yard and said Puppy annoying :-) So yes, he is as smart as he is cute :-) Brooke

Wow! He really is an amazing little boy. He is not even two and is speaking in sentences. "Annoying!!!" Oh my! he is beyond precocious. I can't wait for that first poem... probably next year if not sooner. :p

Today he had music class with three other little ones. At the end of class he said goodbye to each one by name. LOL It's nice he's using his vocabulary to be polite :-)

Very enjoyable as usual Brooke. The wind chill here is currently about 15 below zero. When it happens, I'm drawn to the couch a;bout 4 feet from a roaring fireplace. Keep Sawyer warm!

I'll bet he was delighted with all the motion and air flowing! Is it just the words you chose or is it the pattern of the lines that makes this poem seem so distinct? Is it a certian kind? It is very nice!

This poem is just rhyming quatrains, not a particular form. Thanks so much, Bina :-) Brooke

Just hope old man wind believes in breath mints. There is no use in fighting wind as none can outrun it. Someday Sawyer will fight the wind with a kite.

Excellent rhyme and a timely message, since it's winter up here in the northeast. I count the days till spring, I can relate with your theme. I can visualize the poor animals, and I sympathize.

I like the personification of "Wind" here, and notice you capitalized it when you used it that way. Those careful details add pleasure to a reading experience. Mark, our oldest son, used to love windmills when he was a baby and just went wild pointing them out to us when we drove in the country. Sawyer knows how to be happy over little things. Love, Jeanie

Jeanie, isn't it great when kids get that enthused? Sawyer goes crazy every time they go driving because he loves pointing out every bus he sees. LOL How long has it been since you got excited about seeing a bus pass by? ;-) Thanks so much :-) Brooke

A big part of the fun of watching a child grow up is seeing him enjoy those simple experiences.

Brooke, I like how you personified the wind. I really can never say anything critical on your poems - they are ALWAYS awesome. I do think the pics of Sawyer are wonderful. Miranda Signore, takes the perfect pictures of him! They inspire me, too!

Now I understand how your poem connects with Sawyer. When I first read it I thought it was about you and the cold winds, I think, you still have.

Brooke, living in Oklahoma I can say the poor animals
and people do suffer from the bitter wind when it
blows. Well done as always. You are always thinking
of something different. That Sawyer is quite an
inspiration!!!
