The rhyming of ponderous with wonderous (wondrous?) at either end of the poem underscores the change of direction as the brooding thoughts are banished. 'Nagging frets' is a nice turn of phrase too.

tfawcus, thank you so much :-) - wonderous is a less-used variant of wondrous - I checked before using it :-) Brooke

A little offering of wisdom in this verse--a sage verse, I guess. Pixie looks like she might be dreaming, and appears to be very contented. Kenny

A lovely photo of their cat, that seems to be thinking. It is a nice rhyming Whitney, I think you were inspired by the recent prompt.

This is such a simple philosophical gem wrapped up in a tiny, well written verse. So true! All positivity is weighed down by ponderous thinking. When negativity rules, its hard to go forward.

I actually have brainwashed myself to live this way over the years. It works! Worry is a waste of time. Perfectly put and I spent ten minutes trying to find one word that might improve it. Hahaha. Well, one of these days I will earn my keep. mikey

This poem is very philosophical. Whether we brood or not, we are unlikely to change a thing. The cat in the picture is surely in deep thought, a fitting compliment to the poem. Your diction is perfect. Well done. Emeka

I think that's why I enjoy reading your poetry, Brooke. I know that I'm not going to hear about problems, brooding thought/frets... well at least not without an up lifting solution. LOL

Thank you so much, Ellen. Enough people are brooding for me to feel the need to join the chorus :-) Brooke

Dear Brooke,
Great Whitney, who I believe is your favourite poet? I don't know what you would do these days without Miranda's photo assistance LOL

Whitney as my favorite poet? I don't think I've ever read anything by her. Thanks so much, Reg :-) Brooke
