The timing of this one is perfect. Whenever I'm sick I sink into a woe-is-me mood that turns the world upside down and inside out. Now that I'm feeling better the sunshine is back...even though it never really left and I can finally appreciate it again.

Thank you so much, Valerie. I always love to hear someone has connected with something I've written and not just read it :-) Brooke

Are you a scrabble player, Brooke? Because you appear to find words like "wonderous" with effortless ease.

This is an excellent Whitney. Great meter, great end rhyme, and a thoughtful message all rolled into one.

The picture of the cat, Pixie, is just perfect as a complement to your write.

Julia, yep, love Scrabble. I play it on FB with a couple friends from here. Do you play there? Thanks so much, my friend. :-) Brooke

I think your daughter should switch from being a nanny to a photographer. She certainly seems to have a gift. I like the thought process behind this. The style was simple and let the words do the work. Nicely written.

Gretchen, thank you so much :-) I certainly think she would be great at it, but I would never suggest it until little Nora no longer needs a nanny. It is hard to explain how close to mother and daughter those two are. :-) Brooke

Though I am not a "cat's" person, but I must admit that cat looks rather intelligent and could well be wondering about the issues of the day, and how many will be resolved. Your daughter is an excellent photographer!

Titan, how can someone as nice as you not be a cat person? :-)
Thank you so much, and yes, I am very proud of her for many reasons, including her photography :-) Brooke

It's amazing what juxtaposed ideas you can cram into a few lines of this poetic form. Please accept my admiration for the way you must have juggled with the elements until it all flowed so well. :-) Peter

Ah, Brooke. So wise, and so nimble with words.
If only it were so easy to exclude those nagging, niggling, knucklehead thoughts ...
The weight if brooding really is tangible.
Yellow Man, the stray cat I'm trying to win over, looks even more discouraged than this little guy.

I love this one.

Peace, Lee

At least Yellow Cat has something to be discouraged about - Pixie lives a life of utter luxury :-) Thanks so very much, Lee :-) Brooke

Beautifully expressed, Brooke. Our thoughts can pull us down into the depths, for sure, if we let them. Wonderous thoughts are so much nicer, and besides that, they lead to stories and poems!

The cat's chillin'. :) He's gorgeous.

i adore this poem. it's a great rhyme, helpful, comforting and easy to memorize. the artwork creates an interesting thoughtful mood, even though cats don't have such ponderous thoughts as humans do.
