This is delightful and makes me want to try writing a Whitney. It's a format you handle beautifully. Excellent word choices in this and I like the way you contrast the brooding and pleasamt thoughts with ponderous and wonderous.
Excellent rhyme, and it flows smoothly. I appreciate the upbeat mood. judi

This competition will be very difficult. There are some good competitive entries, as is this one of them.
I am glad to sit this one out.
Kitty seems to be in a relaxed mood, let us hope it is enjoying and not brooding.
Good write, Brooke.

Thanks so much, RG - this is not part of the contest :-) Pixie is totally an indoor kitty, so I don't consider this poem about nature at all. LOL Brooke

Pixie is a lovely feline, as I love felines. The poem complements the picture with its thoughtful pondering and pose. Thanks for sharing!

This picture of the inscrutable Pixie makes this Whitney a memorable poem. I like the rhyming aspect of it also. Nice use of the format.

Interesting change of pace for you. I saw the black and white photo and thought "Oooh, Sawyer has sure changed." When we brood on something it becomes a stew - a watched pot never boils. An interesting subject and I think there was a contest for a Whitney? Well done Mrs Feline-Fancier.

Well done as always, love the picture, is perfect for the poem. Yes it is much better to have wondrous, fun, creative thought rather than sad, brooding one. Rox

A picture of a cat who lies there so
content, with not a worry in the world,
and your words which speak a sound
advise that many times the thoughts
we harbor do weigh heavily on us, and
our whole outlook changes when our
thoughts are wondrous, and all the
world seems right, and our smile lights
up the day.
Well done

Cats are thinkers, I often wonder what they have to think about.
Not a fan of cats, but great way of getting your point across.
Great job.

keyanna, I've lived in a cat family since I was a baby and have passed the cat household thing down to both my children - but I understand not all folks are fans. LOL Thanks so much :-) Brooke
