I've heard the tale of the Phoenix countless times and ways, but it never sounded so good before. A dramatic read if it said nothing. Kenny

Thanks so much, Kenny. I appreciate it. Yes, the tale has been told many times before, as has the application to a life, but it's still fun to do.

solid use of abcb rhyming with internal rhyme in the a and c lines
I have always liked the strong cadence produced by internal rhyme, and it definitely works here
nice alliteration in fall/fiery
vivid and compelling descriptive detail of the Phoenix
You capture the spirit of the Phoenix's resilience extremely well in excellent poetic form :-) Brooke

What an amazing poem you've written,
I'm not surprised, of course, I have
yet to reasd a poem of yours I didn't
like. Please don't shred the wings of
crows, I really like them, they are
incredibly smart.

Have a wonderful weekend my friend.

Oh, Ana, thanks so much, my dear. I appreciate the sixer, and your kind words. I'll leave the crows alone, just for you.

This is simply breath-taking. The rhyme, internal, cadence, all of it, is spot-on. And what fabulous imagery! Oh, I can't imagine how this could ever be improved! (And I haven't a six!)

This is positively inspired writing, in my opinion, and inspirational!

The dawning of a Phoenix in the mind of thoughts
Morning arrives with fire in the sky of all who've wrought

Time goes by at a measured glancing blow
We stand back and contemplate what we think we know

For all is just a fantasy in the minds of some
Other find reality is the only way to run

We will build and we will destroy
The things that we've employed

We can only hope that life returns
In love that never falls or burns

The Phoenix of life is just our strife
Just keep your mind as sharp as a knife...

Just a few thoughts on your outstanding piece of poetic art.
this was a great work of art to have read and responded to... John

I crash and burn yet live to learn.....me too I can empathize .......
What if the Phoenix is arising from the ashes to be a published bird...working from home and loving it....I hope that for you and me too.
God bless

Jenny, that would be about the best reason to rise from the ashes that I can think of. Thank you for the great review AND image.

Wow! Heeeeeee's back! LOL. Powerful and well written poetry, Marillion. \

"With eagle screams and armored dreams,
My re-ascent deprives my foes.
My living cause, with razor claws,
Will shred the wings of circling crows."

Using strong verbs always works, too. Bravo! Bob

Yet another brilliant piece of writing, not just for the perfect rhyme and meter, but the content: inasmuch as one can define the indefinable, you've captured the process of eternal renewal with such precision (it's certainly one that I can relate to). But our transcendental, skyward-looking brand of spirituality wants to deny the Phoenix experience, and too often, tries to depict what is essentially an important recurring process, as an event! No wonder the masses get discouraged.
What absolute soul food, this poem! I suspect you are going to be exhausting my sixes, David!
Cheers
Paula

This a is a great and well crafted poem. Your internal rhymes flow perfectly with concise meaning and signs of being forced. I also love the story of the Phoenix. Well done
