I love your sonnet, excellent use of words,
perfect rhyme, rhythm and flow. I also love
the content and using the eagle as the theme
for faith. I love eagles, for me they mean
freedom.

A befitting entry for the contest.AS the eagle takes her first tentative step in leaving the nest, it is anxious and is scared. But as it takes the leap of faith, the wings unfurl and it experiences its first thrilfull flight
Such beautiful thoughts in this poem that has been well rhymed

I read this through a few times and liken it to the emptiness syndrome after the kids fly out onto there own, leaving us behind.
Strong use of the wording but with a good flow, not overcompensating.
Very nicely done... John

Great Sonnet! I love that it is
from the point of view of the eagle.
You have made his thoughts so
believable.
Excellent rhyme and meter. A super
ending couplet.

This is magnificent, as is the Eagle's flight; and a wonderful variation on the Faith Poetry entries. You have created an imagistic work that put me there on the cliff top, Steve. Good luck, Giddy

my favorite lines:
" sudden joy I drink
and fear is answered with a leap of faith
that gives me strength to claim what's mine by right.
My wings unfurl - and, oh, the thrill of flight."
what a strong and a beautiful ending to such powerful and emotional poem. you expressed your feelings of desperation so very well.

The "turn" should come at line 9 but
yours is at line 8... still, I couldn't
find a flaw in your iambics.
Who cares what Shakespeare did? His
sonnets all had caps at the beginning
of each line. lol
Excellent poem! Bachus

Yeah, doesn't quite fit the 'rules' and that's why I wrote it as a block rather than in stanzas.
Thanks for the kind words.

Lovely. Really different take on faith. Usually the poems here are about religious faith but this is more about faith in oneself. I like how the hesitancy is shown at first - 'A sight to make the boldest feel alone,' but then the 'thrill of flight.'

This is a perfect sonnet in perfect form celebrating faith in the beauty of life. Although I like the entire poem I absolutely love the final line in the ending couplet. Birds and flight, magnificent. I feel like flying myself now.
Exceptional in every way.
