The assonance in 'first crisp kiss' is lovely, almost as lovely as the scene itself. God's creation has a way of keeping us amazed and in awe. It does indeed transcend.

Your first line - good metaphor - the sentiment I think depends on where you live. I've seen pictures of USA on TV and everyone has their mouths covered as it is so very, very cold.
