What an absolute delight to read out loud, Marillion. Your story poem is full of easy imagery (loved the laid-back American in the holy museum), and your humor made me read it again. Excellent poem on this cold night. To answer your question, we were pretty much shut down Sunday night until today from snow and below zero temps, but right now it's warmed up to 1degree.

What an absolute delight to read out loud, Marillion. Your story poem is full of easy imagery (loved the laid-back American in the holy museum), and your humor made me read it again. Excellent poem on this cold night. To answer your question, we were pretty much shut down Sunday night until today from snow and below zero temps, but right now it's warmed up to 1degree.

As for Fish, I'm not sure if he even tours the U.S. anymore, but I still buy all his work. The band, Marillion, has never been the same since he left, though I do still follow them.

I'm doing MOP (Month of Poetry) and decided to do an acrostic novel again. It started in free(ish) verse but I'm not good at that, so it segued into blank verse. I'm making it up as I go along and I've had some interesting reactions!

I perused it a bit last night. Unfortunately, coming in late makes it hard to know what's going on, so I'll try to find time to start at the beginning. What a great idea. Longfellow would be proud (Hiawatha).

I am truly not a poet and I often miss the meaning of a poem but I think you took a today situation and painted a scene where you end posed as the statue. Good job. God loves you and I do too.

I liked this. It is humorous and the poor, hopeful narrator is left in the lurch. I actually can't critique poetry as I am poetically inept. I am amazed tho at this poem. I thought from reading about you on the profile page that you were going to write poems so above me that I wouldn't be able to understand them. This is a pleasant surprise.

Thank you, janalma. I actually try to write poems that read easily, and aren't hard to comprehend. I've gone the academia route before, and it honestly left me wanting for poems that I enjoy creating. I appreciate the very nice review.

Superb humor here with the naked thinker and the closing pose in the couplet!
As usual from your pen, this boasts superb phonetics with well-crafted poetic devices. Especially liked the alliteration of G, F and H here, and consonance of S:
She strolled with grace, a goddess in a fur,
holding a handbag and a champagne flute.
LOL- and also superb consonance an alliteration of S and P
My Ego nudged my Id, said, "Look at her!"
so I proceeded, in my warm-up suit,
to turn my sneakers on the slick parquet
and sidle up to the Rodin display.
This is brilliant and cracked me up:
The Thinker brooded there, a studied pose
of Man's reflective mood (without his clothes).
Great rhyme, too! LOL
Well voice with fine alliteration on A, S and B:
She stood, absorbed in art, admiring him,
his bundled muscles bronzed and set in state.
Superb alliteration on B, Consonance of P and internal near rhyme assonance of I:
I touched my baseball cap, then tipped the brim,
flashed a grin, and asked, "Could this be fate?"
THESE ARE MY FAVORITE LINES...so witty and satirical but also extremely well crafted with all those S sounds (i read it aloud thrice):
The sleek Parisian smirked and, with a scoff,
she shook her head, mouthed "Non", and sashayed off.
And the closing couplet is pitch perfect--and funny. Also superb continuation of S sounds.
This is top notch, my friend...and the metrical license augments the flow and cadence well.
Very entertaining, oh witty one.
