From what I read Brooke your parody on this highly publicised Xmas ditty was fresh, funny and most enjoyable. Not sure this would ACTUALLY happen but the sentiment is clear. Be thankful for what you have as there is always someone around the corner much worse off. What better guilt trip to be put on than one that has you giving every xmas gift to the poorest man in the street and his threadbare colleagues? Humbling with hilarity.
Well done and Merry Xmas although its probably pretty barren at your place right now.
Hmmm, just HOW are you going to explain this to Sawyer I wonder? LOL
Cheers Phillippa

Thanks so much, Phillippa, and yes, barren it is. I spent several hours at my sister's, but now it's back to an empty apartment. Just talked to my son and now waiting to hear from Miranda and Sawyer :-) Phone calls are not the same thing as being with family in person... Ah well. Merry Christmas to you and your family, my friend. Relish every day they're still children. Brooke

    I'm trying. LOL
I was on roller skates lastnight following my daughter around on her new scooter. We've put together the sewing kit bunny and owl she got for xmas. We've fed her baby (dolly) in the new high chair, put her to bed in the cot and we're not far off cracking out the new paint and stamper set to make a complete mess. Flutterby's battery is just about charged so she'll be ready for take off any second followed quite possibly by breakage knowing my Tahzy Terminator...and now I'm about to go and check out a lizard she's found out on the front verandah - Yikes! LOL Gotta dash...

You wouldn't be after an hour with THIS four year old. LMAO You'd be requesting me take her back after 5 Minutes.
She is quite simply relentless, doesn't know what be quiet OR wait means. LMAO

Funny. I thought it was the tame version of Hell! LMAO
Okay I concede. I'm in some kind of Xmas euphoria at present. Happy with the world and everyone in it. Happy holidays sweetie!

Brooke: clever, original and new shots of Sawyer and Miranda. . .what a great gift! I was saddened by this poem because, at some point, we get do carried away with our own Christmas holidays, that we do forget those who have so much less than we. It was a sharp reminder. Thanks for writing. livelylinda

No man has more than the man who gives all he can.
When the chance to give comes, we must stand and deliver.
We must always remember that God loves a cheerful giver.
Our pile of possessions may grow smaller from our cheerful giving.
Our hearts will grow larger as we continue living.
Another great effort Brooke. Congratulations.

An excellent parody, Brooke. As we close ranks in families and exchange often unwanted gifts we do tend to be dazzled by the glow of goodwill and blinded to the predicament of those in desperate need, for whom Christmas itself is a hollow parody. I was delighted by your line, "The five-day-old snow sucked the light from the moon". What an image with which to set the stage for the entrance of the old man!

You got the rhyme and cadence perfectly in this parody of that famous poem and told in a heartwarming fashion. You convey how we are so blessed that, even out trash becomes a blessing to those who have nothing.

What an excellent companion poem to The Night Before Christmas. It should be required reading when the Christmas frenzy begins. We all have become so rich with stuff that we forget that there are so many with nothing.

I absolutely loved this poem, and hope with all my heart that you win this contest.

Merry Christmas to you and yours, Brooke.

Thanks for sharing your talent with us.

Rose.

VERY GOOD!!! Your poem was SO good that I read it twice. It flowed quite well, and had a wonderful message as well. We as people seem to think that Christmas is about getting, when it's actually about giving.

Brooke: A joyful and kindly created thought process we should all appreciate as the true meaning of GRATITUDE! You have captured this wonderfully in word and rhyme and It has brought me to the reality that there are many poor souls out there on the day of giving that only may share the last drop of GOD'S perfect love. Blessings to you, Vance

One of my favorite poems, and perhaps made better. With the modernization of it, it fits the times. Many children won't see much of a Christmas. Some pretty big thinking Grandma. Merry Christmas. kenni
