I too have read a ton of Campbell. If you are still interested, try " The Hero with a Thousand Faces". Myths do try to make sense of the unexplainable mysteries of the universe and also serve to teach about human nature. And the similarity of myths across cultures shows that they do contain grains of truth. Good use of the form, just not sure if perverse is quite the right word for this piece.

Many thanks for your recommendation, Ravenblack. It is a book that I have not yet read and it sounds interesting. Thanks too for your comment about the wording of my pantoum. I have thought about it and decided that you are right. 'Perverse' does not quite convey what I had intended. I have replaced it with 'diverse', although there is so much unity in the diversity of man's myths, that I'm not sure that's right either! Closer, though!

A good pantoum poetry poetry fulfilling the guidelines of the pantoum format.
A good choice of words and good imagination. The poem is nicely presented and has a good theme.

Our weak attempts to comprehend
We now believe with simple faith
And reason soon becomes a wraith
For of God's purpose we are blind.

This is a really good poem and a worthy contest entry
Best of luck in the contest

Yes, there's so much we don't understand--aren't supposed to understand. the Bible says "For now we see as through a glass, darkly." Well-written and thought-provoking

Six very good stanzas make up this pantoum. Despite the restrictions and demands of a pantoum, every stanza stands alone and makes sense - not at all contrived. Good luck in the contest. Regards Dorothy

WEll, it is different, and I am always like to see the boundaries being tested.

However, I would have liked to see a tiny bit structural flow because of your repeated lines.

Still, this was an interesting read.

Best wishes,

RG

I found this poem interesting and quite intriguing. I always find myself thinking about how vast the universe is and if the universe is really expanding at this very moment. There are so many possibilities out there, that we can not rule out many of what we do not know yet, and I do have faith in a lot of mysteries and myths, but there are a lot of others that are ignorant to the wonder out there. I wish you the best.

The vastness of the universe is indeed a subject that mystifies our weak attempts to comprehend. A well written
pantoum. Good luck in the contest.

The truth is simple, if we can just accept the true meaning of God and Jesus at the cross. But we do make it complicated. Thanks for sharing.

Unfortunately the truth may not be that simple! Faith, however, is. Those who have managed to acquire faith have managed to acquire both inner peace and purpose. They are more fortunate than those who continue to flounder in a sea of doubt.

This writing style is still very new to me, so I have to start with the fact that I probable am not as knowledgeable as I could be, or as some of the more learned authors on the site. I love the pantoum and the way it flows. Your is quite interesting in it's wording, though I found myself a little confused in trying to make sure it met all the qualifications. I enjoyed reading it.
