I should have waited until tomorrow to review this. I wanted so much to give it a 6. I love you wit, sarcastic humor, and clever style. I think most of the last sentence was a bit redundant but I think you know me well enough by now that redundancy is my area of expertise. I enjoyed this very much and you got me to giggle several times and even laugh out loud twice.

One possible spag:

prose writers ate gluttons...did you mean to say 'are' gluttons?? If not, I must say that is an interesting concept.

Now you've made me laugh out loud at both my typo and the concept. Thanks.

We can be a snobby,self-righteous bunch, can't we? As far as telling anyone you write, I agree. If you don't do it, you don't quite get it. I try to remember a quote I read somewhere about the actual meaning of amateur. It really means something that those who do it for the love of the craft are amateurs. I loved your image of a series of rooms, each offering things for different appetites. Very well done and an enjoyable read.

Thanks. I was challenged by someone why I didn't review poetry very often and that inspiration led to this essay. Thanks for reading.

I'm with you 100%, Ingrid. Poetry and prose are two different animals. In fact, I wrote a similar essay on the subject. I even see grammatical errors in some poems onShoudn't such a short amount of words at least be thoroughly edited? Yes, I admit I give fluffy reviews to mediocre poems like most people, but it makes life easier.

Concerning prose, I've been trying to lose weight for years. Less is more, as they say. That applies to prose as much as anything.

Incidentally, George Carlin had it right when he said, "More people write poetry than read it.

Loved George, and in this case I'd agree with him 100%. Thanks for the read and review.

Another issue I've noted on this site. have you seen how many cliche's are used in poems? Poets have a few lines to express themselves, and too often they'll pull a cliche off the shelf to stick in there. Believe it or not, awhile back, I saw the ultimate cliche in a poem on here: "You're my knight in shining armor." Bleh.

I liked your party analogy. You have woven a very fun and crafty essay that made me think of several writers from this site. I could easily see several of the famous and wonderful writers here. Nice little rant, rather musing.

A little of both, I think. thanks for reading and the review. Inspired by someone who asked me why I review very few poems. In some cases I feel unqualified to comment except offer praise and in so very many...to prolong the analogy I need to reach for an antacid.

I found this piece to be very honest and quite funny. The author expressed their feelings, without being to harsh. I loved it.

Thanks so much. Its like anything else. I might think a Cadillac is the best car and someone else feels strongly about a Mercedes. Both are right and no one's wrong.

This was fun to read because I've never thought of writing in way before. All I can hope for is that I'm a good poet and not a wannabe just writing poems. LOL. Great job

Thanks, and especiallly for not taking offence that poetry isn't really my thing. But don't you, as a poet, agree there's an awful lot of real S**T posted here right beside the laureates?
reply by ExperiencingLiphe on 07-Dec-2013
Yeah I agree but I also hope I'm not one of those people others think that of too. LOL. And even though poetry isn't your cup of tea, each to their own. I only get mad when people review and they knock stars down because it's quote "Not what we're into". If your not into it or don't like the style don't review or even read it. Stick to what you like or if you do go out of your boundaries at least review fair. Okay, that's my rant :)
