There are some damaged souls, folks who suffered extreme abuse, who don't know how to love themselves or others. And there are damaged souls who exist merely to inflict pain without a second thought, ad if doing so is part of their nature. In my life, I have encountered both. For the first , there is hope. The second - none.

Hi Dean You really got me thinking about your poem
My reply may not be what you were looking for

Here it is

It's a person who has totally failed to love themselves, especially hates his enemy.

It's a person who has no humility and not willing to learn from others, no matter how poor or rich.

And they will not ever reach out in any way reach out to show compassion.

(Failure to show compassion is to me enemy's failure to love)

Gert

So, it's what's on the inside that counts? Well that's very refreshing, I thought it was more about looks and material stuff...at least for the ones I have met,
I could probably name one or two like this Dean,
thanks for making me think

you trigger thoughts of the 'the bad seed' - patty mccormack. one wonders whether there are truly evil people born. your poem is a powerhouse and quite scary. yes, there are sociopaths who thrive on hurting others, or a best, just walk over others. this poem is strong and well written, and painful to read.

Now that's chilling, especially the last line about it being you. *shudder*.
You captured a perfect moment in the movement of poetry, a reflection of the emptiness of evil. I love it so much! Can I print thus and put it above my workstation?
Excellent work blending the colors with feelings and matching the whole thing to the pic at the beginning.

There are people that give me the creeps, that cannot attach or love. I feel supremely sorry for them. But they have a soul and they make choices..my sister in law...ex...never hugged her children. They slept on the floor because ...duh ...the beds were made. She was adopted had been in foster home after foster home...and did not know how to connect. The first year of a baby's life is the MOST CRITICAL TO LEARN TO LOVE. A shout out to all the good mothers out there.
God bless. God is love He would not create evil souls with no chance of
redemption. He saved Paul, Rahab the harlot, Ecclesiastes 3:11
11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.

We just don't understand it all but He does

If you mean those who seem to thrive on belittling others, I think we've all met them. If they are in positions of power, they can destroy a person's job or family. Void of compassion they squash others and feed on the misery. Born this way? Possibly.
They range from the bully to the cold blooded joy-killer. Alone within themselves, they come out to prey; needing more, taking more, each time they 'feed'.

I thought I was the only one who thought like this. My mother used to tell me some people were put on this earth to take up space, they have no soul. I used to think it was a horrible thing to say, but the older I've gotten, the more I believe it. Great vocabulary in this. It was eerie and spiritual at the same time. I believe everyone is born with a soul, but some choose to let theirs die.
