This is a well put together over all presentation. It has good poetic verve and it reads smoothly down the page. I enjoyed partaking of this excellent piece of poetic art... john

You know. I have and what I discovered was the same thing Arendt did.

Ah... I see you've met my ex-husband.

All kidding aside, he was diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder and borderline sociopathic tendencies... (although, there was nothing 'borderline' about him) He was the scariest person I ever knew. Had absolutely no sense of emotional attachment to anyone, and had the coldest eyes of any living creature. But, as with many individuals with these psychological profiles, he was able to 'hide' it well enough and long enough... I married him and there was no gun held to my head.

Some of your lines have shaken me up, though...

After years of unsuccessful counselling sessions (can't counsel someone who is incapable of seeing a problem or of taking the perspective of another) it came to the point where not only my physical safety was at risk, but the safety of our two children as well. That's when I filed for divorce. When he realized I was serious, he tried to charm me, then when that didn't work, tried to kill me. I will always remember the look on his face, zero emotion in his eyes even though his face was contorted in rage, and in an absolutely cold voice saying, "you can't leave me, Christina... I'll never let you leave... I'll destroy you and take everything... I won't let you go..."

Hah, well, let's just say I have met people just like him. I may have bumped into him during one of my many excursions into Canadian soil, one can never be too sure about such things.

There are real monsters in the world, no doubt about it, and you ran head-long into one. Thanks to the grace of God, you & your children survived, because many do not.

Thanks for the great review, Pipe!

This is a very interesting message, and it is written superbly well. You ask in your notes about experiences of people devoid of soul. Yes, I have been subjected to such a person. This was a person of extreme concern with exerting control and no care for others. A wish to inflict pain, and cruel to animals. I shudder. Your writing is expertly done - I normally do not like dark matters such as this but you are a compelling author.

Well, I really appreciate you giving this one a chance, watergirl. There is true evil and darkness in the world, as well a s beauty and light. To ignore the fact that it exists is a dire mistake, I believe. You can't fight what you don't comprehend.

Thanks for an excellent review, my friend!

Dean Kuch,

In my past I have known people who were empty inside. They did not look Goth though.

Well chosen words are expressive. The theme is strong. Your feelings are expressed well. Your arrangement looks very nice. The flow is smooth.

There was no SPAG. No typos. No homophones. No problems at all.

I look forward to seeing you again.

Love you,

Oatmeal

I too have met soulless people, sadly on too many occasions. One does wonder whether it is a genetic disposition or if life twisted them into the misshapen excuse for humanity they project. You certainly described them well but they can only drag us down if we permit it!!

So true, Phoenix. However, we have to know that they do exist, these real monsters in human form. We can't fight what we do not understand or comprehend.

Thanks for the great review, much obliged!

solid rhyming couplets
good alliteration in huge hole
very dramatic overall presentation
Sadly, I have met a couple people like this, including my own mother-in-law, and that is not a mother-in-law joke - I'm absolutely serious. Brooke

Thanks, Brooke. My mother, while I do love her dearly, is also one of these people, I hate to say that, but it is the truth. It was not always that way, it began after her mother's death a few years back. She remains a recluse now, barley wanting to leave her home. It's really a sad thing to watch, and no one can seem to snap her out of it. No amounts of medication for severe depression seems to help, although, my poetry and stories always seem to get her excited. I hope one day to have a published book to lay in her hands. I think it would mean the world to her.

    Thanks for the wonderful review!

Dean, my friend, you are by far, one of the best Horror/Thriller writers on this site. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a very good read.
