Indeed a parable written with consummate skill. Its message is clear. Relationships are everything. And yet we so often choose the company of our own isolation; our invulnerability which we confuse for as surety. And then we wonder where our lives escaped to. Of course, finally we have to face alone the one great tragedy of our lives; our demise. I think our author says it all. I knew one man, who anticipated his death and made light of it. Interesting parable. Yes so many townspeople came to his funeral. I wonder where they were when the tax man was sending letters and will they now feed his family. But i do get the message you are conveying.

Some people, many I know personally, are too proud to ask for help. My father-in-law is a good example. He was evicted from his house because his wife (my wife's mother) passed away, and he lost all of her income. He told no one, not even his daughters, how badly he was struggling. There are a lot of people out there, and we're always so busy, wrapped up in our own lives, we simply don't ask.

How true, Dean. We should always be thankful for those we love, not worry about possessions.
I hate to go through this season of greed and think that an iphone or some such gizmo will make a difference in a family's love for one another... but sometimes it takes a few hard knocks to see what matters.

I like the widow's spirit, and she has reason to be proud of her husband's generosity. I suspect she's not the first widow left in such circumstances by her spouse's generosity, but it is the way we should all behave if we claim to believe in the lessons of the Gospels. We are supposed to 'live' it.

Hi my friend. I am writing to you to explain that I have high blood pressure,
which the doctor told me I have to rest as much as I can till the new pills will start doing there effects.
