Thanks so much, dip. I'm glad to know that you, my good friend, above all people, liked this poem.

Yeah, I want to do a book, and I want to model it after the one you sent me. As a matter of fact, maybe one day you can tell me what publisher you went through, and I'll pitch the idea to them. Of course, there wouldn't be any sound FX, but those aren't really necessary to get my meaning across. That's just the gravy on the meat, LOL...

Thanks again, dipster! I really appreciate it.

Another great spooky tale. I'm always amazed at what you write about, where you get the information, and how well you write about it. Each work is a production it itself. Very enjoyable ... as always. Your fan, John

Thank you very much, John, I really appreciate that.

Halloween night, I was watching Pale Rider, starring Clint Eastwood (yeah, I know what you're thinkin, you figured I'd be watching old horror movies, right, LOL...) and it gave me the inspiration to write a poem about this old ghost town I saw on Ghost Adventures called Raven's Fare, Wyoming. So, that's where the inspiration came from for this particular poem. Ideas just POP! into my head, and I start writing...

Another of your remarkable poems, Dean -
always so fascinating and most impressive...

had I a six left it would surely be yours.

I also enjoy the author notes - so interesting.

Mr. Kuch sir...

I have a confession to make. I implore you not to judge me sir. You see, the truth of the matter is, I only get to this site late at night, when I am all alone in my Hobbit hole with nothing but the house settling to keep me in the company of sounds, and you sir, are an evil, incarnate, manacle circus clown who loves to chill blood almost as much as you love to spill it on the page. I do not abide nightmares, sir, and reading you so late invites them in. Take this horrible, fetid poem: aptly dark, as is your forte, ominous and foreboding, and even the damn rhyme scheme somehow sends cold spider-legs up my spine. But that's not enough for you sir, is it? Oh no. You have to include a biography in your author's notes, thus breathing life into the town of Raven's Fare and making it not just an exquisitely dark poem from a twisted mind, but a grave-shrouded ode to an actual place, thus making it all more chilling to read. And damn your sound effects, sir! If I dream of ghosts and howling coyotes tonight - if I even wake up imagining a sewery smell - the blame will fall entirely upon your shoulders, Mr. Kuch.

Damn you, I loved it.

Hah, thanks for that outstanding review, Mike, I am truly flattered and humbled. I too can only frequent FS during the wee early morning or late night hours. Too many teenaged demands for one laptop makes it rather difficult to squeeze in my time. That being said, I'm quite happy that you enjoy my work, as I truly do yours.

You have yourself a relaxing, wonderful weekend, my friend. Till next time, I'll be waiting on the other side...

Another stellar poem. I love the rhythm of this piece, its jagged and haunting, perfect for a mining ghost town. Where else would a horror buff like to vacation? I'm packed and ready! This poem honestly puts me on edge, something about a whole town of evil illicits nightmares from king and Strauss. Excellent job, my friend.

Good eye catching photo. Good use of the abab rhyme scheme. Good perfect rhyming with blood/flood...road/goad. Good descriptive words that paint a clear picture in my mind. Good alliteration, good chilling message, good work.

You have such a mastery of graphics. My screen goes berserk with just a diamond on my editor.

I see Ravens are popular at the moment. LOL.

Your country seems to be a happy hunting ground for ghostly tales and you have pulled another masterpiece out of the bag once again.

Raven's Fare is not a place I shall be going to any time soon.

An well told creepy tale, with a warning at the end.

:) mel.

Thanks very much, Mel, and you're right, ghost stories and urban legends abound here in the US. I frequently research ancient Celtic lore too, for much of my inspiration.

Thanks again for that wonderful review, I sure do appreciate it!

I tend to be agnostic in terms of the paranormal, but I do believe in the power of suggestion. Several cultures believe evil needs to be 'invited' by a receptive mind. Perhaps the origin of the vampire legend about being 'invited in'.
Your Raven's Fare sounds like a place where the receptive
can have a hell of a good time.

Peace, Lee

Hah, yes, they probably do, Lee, that's for certain. Not a place I care to visit, I'll tell you that!

Thanks for the wonderful reviews and insights, my friend. Much appreciated.

you created teh haunting ambiance very effectively with the first stanza. good story telling, the only thing it misses is a fire and an assembly around it :)

You certainly have a knack for the macabre and eerie, Dean.

Excellent spooky story in a poem that builds up so well, and warning of the perils of 'Raven's Fare' - aptly named.

Top rhymes and flow to create a smooth and creepy read.

Cheers, Ted
