This is a fine example of what you do in your spare time. You never mentioned it, but I assume Raven's Fare is a ghost town, without human inhabitants. Great story about a truly strange place. Excellent work!

The poem, along with the sound effects and illustrations really gives you a creepy feeling, like you are watching a horror movie. It was interesting, reading your author's notes too. All together it achieves your purpose of scaring the sap out of ya. LOL I liked the part about the full moon bringing out the ghosts who are wanting to go haunting. Great job, Dean. All the work you put in on this paid off. I wish I had a six to give you.

Hello Dean, I would say your poem gives fair warning, and boy, do I relate to mining towns. Google Downieville, Cal. My small town of 300 people, boasted a population of over 5,000, back in the mid 1800's. Missed being the capital of California by a few votes. Our most famous ghost resides in the Downieville River Inn. Her name is Juanita, she was raped in her cabin by a miner back in the day, and tracked the sucker down the next day and stabbed him, killing him, dead, dead, dead. She was hanged unjustly in the town gallows, (which still stand). I thought you, of all people, might find that interesting. Creepy write, my friend, Bill

One 6 left and you know how I feel about the scary things you post.
I love to read and the scarier the better. The rhyme is great but I had to read first then reread to enjoy the rhyme because I wanted the story first. You are complicated

Thanks very much, Barb. I'm really not complicated at all, if you knew the real me. Just a laid back country boy who always enjoyed telling scary campfire stories to scare the bejeezus outta everybody as a kid. I just never grew up, that's all, LOL!

I enjoyed Raven's Fare Dean, it is a nice take on the darkness that dwells, swells and crawls out of the pits of hell to haunt, hurt and terrify any and all who foolishly underestimate the power of the devil and his minions.

Good examples, Hitch. That's pretty much the type of Raven's Fare is, a lot like Silent Hill.

Nice and scary. The descriptions tended to be hair raising and harrowing. I really liked that it was featuring and old ghost town. I rmember as a young girl, visiting a haunted house that had an old west theme. Surprisingly, it was pretty scary. Nicely done.

I always try to make as vague a reference as I possibly can to a place that relates, in some way, to what I've written. Gives the poem or story an air of authenticity that many say heightens the scare and shock factor for them immensely. I'm happy that you enjoy them!
