This is a touching story-poem of your Chihuahua. Little Girl has captured your soul with her love and fidelity. I hope you will get her replacement soon. Interesting poem.

Made me cry, but I recently lost my canine friend as well. No one understood the way she did so I understand where you are coming from. Love your description of how she is still watching out for you until you meet again.

Dearest Jim...

This tender, touching write, told from the perspective of your "Little Girl" is truly beautiful. Your love for your best friend shines here.

I've often told my wife (much to her angered scolding and chagrin) that I hope I go before my Gidget does. She's my eight-year old Chihuahua, and truly my best friend, man, beast, or otherwise. I know the day she goes, if I am still here, her passing will forever silence a broken heart already and forever ravaged by heart disease.

Great work, my dear firend. Truly wonderful

Hello Dean, I wish there was something that I could help you with your heart disease.

Gidget is such a pretty little girl. I see why she is so important to you.

I used to worry about what would happen to her if I died before her. Now, I don't have to worry about her. Dean, I do struggle everyday with her death and the lonely feelings that I live through. I know she is in a good place and waiting for me when my time comes.

Thank you for the excellent review and warm heart felt comments.

Please take care and keep the faith as I pray for you each and every day,,,,,,,Jim

I do so hope there are dogs in heaven, Jim, I really do. My church teaches that there are no animals in heaven, but I ask myself, how can this be? The Bible clearly states that the lion will lie down with the lamb...

What a beautiful "little girl" in that picture. It is so true that animals can offer so much comfort to those who are ill.
One thing: This post, I think, should be classified as poetry instead of stories. A quick note to Tom would get that altered for you.
The letter you wrote is beautiful. I love that you wrote the letter 'from' "Little Girl" instead of vice versa. That is very creative, for you have given her a voice. :) Sandra

Sandra, I didn't know that it was listed under stories. I will look into getting this fixed.

Thank you for your excellent review and warm comments. That photo was taken 2 days after I got her. She weighed 4 pounds and 2 ounces,,,,,,,Jim

This reminds me of my friend who just lost one of hers. I told her that her dogs were the luckiest I've ever known for the care and love they got from her. Very well expressed and written. I am sorry for your loss... <3

Again thank you Jim for sharing this tear jerker of a poem with myself, fans and other readers/writers. Yes I let out a chair for this lovable letter that your beloved has written to you. A very soft and serene letter of love and tenderness and where you should weep no more and which what she hasn't said of maybe getting another dog and one for me to remember me by and one for you to love again. You have a good one.

Thank you AK for your wonderful heartfelt review and warm comments. I struggle everyday with her untimely and tragic death. My heart is truly broken. I have not wanted another little dog. The place that I moved into will not allow me to have another dog. If she were alive, she could have moved in here with me. Go figure AK,,,,,,,,Jim

This is a most moving piece of writing. I just lost my malemute a few months ago and I am still not recovered. Nice way to angle your poem from the dog's perspective. Nice imagery and rhyme and very well-written. Commendable.

thank you for this touching tribute to a pet who was more than a pet - and with whom you shared some difficult times, and a lot of love.

This is a lovely short story, written in the form of a poem by the dog to her owner. Has good rhythm and rhyming throughout the poem. Nice creative and touching write.
