This is an excellent poem and very interesting to read about the Boobook owl. You bring it to life and I could imagine it soaring through the night sky, swooping silently on its unsuspecting prey.

A beautifully crafted poem about the Boobook owl. The Boobook is like most owls is a very efficient killer of small prey. Your poem is well written with good cadence and perfect rhyme.

This piece meets the criteria of the pantoum piece. Each line ends up were it needs to be. Good solid end rhyming. Good perfect rhyming with moon/soon. Good alliteration shadowed/silver/silhouette...ghost/gum...stays/she/swaying/sedge. Good descriptive message that is complimented well by the photo.

Good job with the rhyme and rhythm and with the form of the poem.I find owls fascinating,

reflected by the hunter's moon.
A wraith with staring hooded eye
will make her fateful movement soon,
her talons piercing death's small cry!

Well done on this Pantoum Mary

this is very well written, tfawcus, you did an excellent job writing this pantoum poem about the boobook owl. my only concern is the stanza that starts with stays poised. you might need to modify it a little for the flow to work from the stanza before it to the other since it is part of a sentence.

Many thanks for your review, Sweetwoodjax, and for your comments. Much appreciated. Unfortunately, because of the requirements of the pantoum form, I can't change that line without changing the same line in the stanza before. 'stays poised' runs on as an enjambment from the last line of the previous stanza.

I haven't written many pantoums, but I really like this one and the repeated lines worked very naturally. Also liked your picture of the boobook owl. Excellent poem, Giddy

Thanks for your review, w.j.debi! I appreciate your comments. This owl has a mournful two-note call and the name Boobook is onomatopoeic. It is also sometimes called the Mopoke.
