Good historical work. Good poetic form and rhyme format of 'aabb'. I like you alliterations and assonances in this work. Nice choice of poetic words strings.

When I started reading your poem your style of writing, not the style of poem you wrote in, caused me to thinking that you were definitely born in the wrong century. Almost in a true old english style of writing. Not to mention the topic of the story being told. The cannon descrition is great alliteration - belched, blazing, boisterous, bellows
The rhyming even uses older english type of words, tryst - midst, bellows - yellows.
Mind you some were pretty stretched, called - walls, waves - day, hoardes - shores, lasses - lashes, siege-breached.
Great involved research in notes.

Yeah, I did stick my neck out on several of those near-rhymes, I'll admit. However, as the piece progressed and was set to paper, I felt they worked well, as a whole.

I don't know haw it happened but I have used all my allotted sixers and I need one for you. Your author's notes and the poem are excellent beyond what could be expected of a poet. You taught me a piece of history, which I appreciate. You have used good alliteration throughout, the flow is smooth, the theme is creepy especially since it is true. What barbarians those people were but then I guess we are too as many fall in wars we shouldn't have entered. You word choices are descriptive and stunning. Well done. Bravo!...chey

Loved the music with the swords clinking throughout. You are the drama king on this site. LOL Loved the art work as always. I read the author notes that were as interesting as the writing and art work. You should write a horror story about these two. With the ghost of the priest vowing revenge on his brother.

Wow now this was an eerie verbal painting if I ever read one.. Felt like the screaming head painting trying to escape. You have found yourself among a great poem full of history of the clan struggles in Ireland. Ghosts prevail where injustice fills the castles of rivals and the spirits of the murdered cannot find peace. Are you a historian Dean or just do you love history? You seem to be both.

Thanks for this wonderful review, Alan. Nope,I'm not a historian, however, I do so love history. More precisely, I love the ancient myths and legends of Ireland and Scotland, WWII history, particularly the Eastern Theater, and anything pertaining to our Civil War between the states, and the Revolutionary War against Great Britain.
