I love that you use photos of your grandchildren in your poetry. It really creates a strong personally connection, because it's easy to relate to.

Brooke - I haven't been spending much time on the site, so very much miss my Adewpearl fixes! A wonderful and friendly poem wth a cute, but poignant universal message. Well done! Bill

Cute, cute pic. Title a pun.
I'm told there are advantages
to spending time alone,
and who am I to argue with
what scientists have shown? << Quite humorous juxtaposed with Sawyer looking so happy with and by himself.
But if a pollster calls to ask
what I would recommend,
I'd tell him to get off the phone
and find himself a friend. << This is clever and very funny.
Thanks for a charm-filled moment. Cheers, JS

He looks so rapt in the video. It is true that kids are in front of the TV, computer, or video game console way too much.
They all need to get out and be social.

Thank you, dragonpoet - thankfully, he is restricted to watching select videos about a half hour a day. :-) Brooke

Hee hee, that's lovely Brooke! :D
Great humor in your poem, which is almost like a small essay; evaluating two sides of an argument :D
Gorgeous picture again of the most photeogenic grandson I know!
Thanks for sharing,
donna :)

Contentment is such an important factor of life for a child to learn. Sometimes we have to be our own best company. Solitude has merit and is healthy when balanced out within a happy family life.
You showed this very well, Brooke
a fine write indeed.

Me thinks your young philosopher is far too kind Brooke. I have been known to tell those who find themselves uninvited on the other end of my phone (for whatever reason), a lot worse than just "to find himself a friend". I shall leave that up to your imagination. I am enjoying the way you are allowing your grandchildren to espouse notions that are skillfully conveyed with your own pen/keyboard. It seems to me to be almost an "out of the mouth of babes" way of giving your readers many and varied points of view. xx Carol

Hello there Brooke
I agree that not all poems are spurred by the artwork. I enjoyed the frankness of your poem and feel strongly about unsolicited phone calls. Have a superb week

PERFECT 8-6-8-6. The words read easily and the trend of thought was continuous. Great light hearted poem. Rhymed as well which is hard to do with these types of poems

Dear Brooke,
I have just got off the phone after a very brief conversation with a gentleman with a New Delhi accent. I wish I had had this in front of me to quote verbatim.
