This is beautiful. You are able to write about it so eloquently. I envy your sense of peace, my mom did not have that at the end because it cane so fast and I only hope she found that peace at the end.

A somber poem, but none of us really know how much time we have on this earth. I sit here and reflect on your poem, and somehow it speaks to me.

Hello Livelylinda,
It's a nice piece of Biographical Poetry beautifully depicting 'how to face even the worst possibility or certainty in life'. In spite of painful darkness all around, the poet does not leave the positive approach which naturally strengthens him.
Its wording is simple, having spontaneous flow with nice rhyming scheme and lively imagery.
Its last but one stanza is particularly worth noting.
Marvelous!

time seems to stand still
and yet, flees hastily
as life drains from me incessantly .

A sad reality of old age. Very well written, one can sense the aging process, and the waiting to die. Bless u Terry

Hi Linda

Your poem packs a punch. Straight to the heart and no dillydallying, somehow I picture that is how you like to be. You have been frank with no rancour. Acceptance is a courageous thing. You must be making it easier on your family. Still, young to die, yet when the time comes, it is ours alone. An active person must find the "slow motion" very difficult.

You have made your peace and seem well prepared and ready. I hope you see your Angels when it is time. My prayers and best wishes. Warmest hugs - Lovinia xooxoox

A very depressing yet beautiful poem you've written up there.

"oh, how I loathe these days,
one foot in, one foot out
but no "shaking all about"

Very blunt and honest remarks.
Loathing toward the inability to be free and being under controlled by the disease you suffered from.

"numbing all my senses
to avoid the pain and pill;
slow motion, mostly still "

I remember when My grandma had to take medicines to stop her from feeling pain. It made her feel nothing, but excruciating numbness.

"slow motion, mostly still"

A tragic thing that is, the inability to move about.

"time seems to stand still
and yet, flees hastily
as life drains from me incessantly "

Time constantly churning forward is a common theme, but when one thinks "time seems to stand still," it emphasizes that person's wanting to move on. The fact that it's frozen there links very well to the title of your poem "the wait."

"and yet, flees hastily"

Although time seems to stand still in times of sadness, time really does fly.

Life is taking its toll upon you, and making you suffer.

Aigh.

God bless

Amanda

That is very sad. We all know the end is inevitable but unfortunately for some it comes sooner than for others. Thank you for sharing.

A poem is meant to have as many meanings as its readers, and open to varied views ;and here to me it means what my mother said, so quite heartfelt.Great job done by the poet in installing emotions in its readers.Thanks...

Sad. However, it was an amazingly well written poem. Enjoyed it very much. Held form, flow, and lyrics. It even had overall greatness. Nic.

I am so sorry to learn of your illness. I will keep you in my prayers. You have created a haunting poem as we don't know when we might be faced with your situation in one way or another.
Good picture choice, excellent rhyme and good use of alliteration. Very well done and God bless.
Janet
