This is a great story. I enjoyed it. Nathan was in love. But if love dosen't come from both ways then you may as well give up but it hurts.
I like this paragrah.> At the end of the week, Grace seemed to Nathan that she was behaving more pleasantly towards him, though she never said more than what was necessary. One morning he awoke and found that her gift was not under the bed, but in its place a note that read: I forgive you, as I'm sure God has . Nathan couldn't stop glowing.

I like it when a chapter is so well-written a reader can assume what is going on and is not lost. Your descriptions of Grace and Nathan; Nathan's relationship with the men in his unit; and his molestation of Grace give the reader an excellent idea of one aspect of the book. This is a wonderful historical piece of fiction. I'm just getting into the meat of this story, but I was impressed by the strength of the characters and the dialogue, which seemed realistic for the time period. If the war is almost over, I hope that Nathan and his nurse will be able to start a new relationship. But, once he gets back home, old skeletons will surface and that could put a damper on his new life. Great read. Thanks for sharing.

My only concern is that your scene descriptions feel choppy. I think the second paragraph demonstrates that best.
All in all though, there's tension and conflict that's well presented by a strong narrative voice.

"Nathan had a smaller concern made greater by his hearts' desire" - This suggests that he has more than one heart.
Dead soldiers "coming home in a box" is a concept which dates from the Vietnam War. In the First World War, the common practice was to bury them near the battlefield (in most cases, in northern France).
